Chapter 2 – Conversation

After Haruto, who had now become Lucien Morgrave—

Lucien began walking toward the Holy Solaris Empire. This place was the nearest to him, but it would still take two or three days to reach.

As he walked, Lucien remembered his past life. He knew that his family would not care about him even if he died. Thinking about his previous life made him angry. Why did he have to reincarnate in another world when he was already about to die?

Now, what should he do in the future? He had no idea. He had no dreams—because he was not truly Lucien, the final boss of the novel

「The Creation」.

He was just Haruto, a boy who once lived in Japan. Everything from his old life was over. Thinking about it felt meaningless, but Haruto decided not to give up yet. There was still hope—if he could reach the Solaris holy Empire.

After traveling for the day, the sun set and night arrived. This was Haruto's first night since reincarnating. He found a suitable place to rest—a flat area inside the forest where he could spend the night safely.

He did not have many food resources. After eating some bread he had taken from the cart, he covered himself with the clothes he had picked earlier and went to sleep.

While Lucien was sleeping, he saw a soul-like figure in his dream. At first, Haruto thought it was just a dream—but it was not.

The soul standing before him was the real Lucien Morgrave, the one destined to destroy the world.

Haruto could not see his own body. He felt as if he existed only as a soul.

The original owner of Lucien Margrave spoke softly.

"So, we finally meet—you're the one who took my body."

Haruto was shocked. He was now speaking with the final boss and the strongest character of this novel world.

Lucien looked at Haruto and said calmly,

"You don't have to panic. I'm here to talk, and we don't have much time."

After looking at Lucien's soul, Haruto finally spoke.

"What do you mean by we don't have much time?"

Lucien replied softly,

"Because I'm going to die."

Haruto stared at him in shock.

"What? B—"

Lucien cut his words

"Well, I think you already know the reason."

Haruto thought for a moment and then spoke.

"Because I took over your body, your soul is slowly disappearing. Right?"

Lucien looked at his own hand and nodded.

"You are right. That's why I wanted to talk with you."

Haruto noticed that Lucien's soul was slowly fading.

"I saw your memories, Tanaka Haruto," Lucien said.

Haruto froze.

"What… what do you mean you saw my memories?" Haruto asked.

Lucien looked surprised.

"Didn't you see my memories?"

Suddenly, Haruto felt a sharp headache. He grabbed his head, but after a moment, the pain disappeared.

He took a deep breath.

"No. And if you saw my memories, then—"

Lucien interrupted him.

"This world is just a novel world, and I am the final boss… or something like that," he said calmly.

Haruto listened carefully. Despite Lucien's calm voice, Haruto felt as if he was speaking to someone extremely dangerous.

Lucien had seen Haruto's memories, and through them, he understood one thing—

Humans were enemies of themselves.

"So, I was right about this world," Lucien said.

Anger filled his voice.

"Humanity is its own enemy."

As he spoke, the space around them began to crack and fall apart.

Lucien took a deep breath, calming himself. The cracking stopped.

"Sorry, Haruto."

Haruto could barely speak. He was scared.

"You've lived a hard life until now," Lucien said.

Haruto looked at him.

"Hard life?"

Lucien nodded.

"I saw your memories. I just want to say this—you gave it your all until the very end."

Hearing those words, tears began to fall from Haruto's eyes. This was the first time anyone had ever said that to him.

"You should be proud of yourself for not giving up on your dreams. Stand proud, Haruto Tanaka," Lucien said gently.

Haruto smiled warmly.

"Thank you—"

At that moment, space and time began to collapse again.

"It seems like we don't have much time left," Lucien said.

Then he looked at Haruto with a serious expression.

"Haruto, do you have any dream? Anything you want to do in this world?"

Haruto took a deep breath.

"I don't have any dreams or goals… and I still don't know what I'm going to do in the future. Ha… ha… pathetic, right?"

Lucien widened his eyes.

"It isn't pathetic, Haruto-kun."

Haruto asked quietly,

"What should I do in the future?"

Lucien took a deep breath and spoke seriously.

"Can you carry my dream?"

Haruto looked at him.

"Your dream?"

Haruto remembered Lucien's dream—to create a peaceful world without wars or discrimination.

He didn't know how to answer. Seeing his hesitation, Lucien said,

"It's fine if you don't—"

"I will fulfill your dream," Haruto interrupted.

He spoke confidently at first, but his voice weakened at the end. He had failed so many times before—he was afraid.

Seeing Haruto's expression, Lucien smiled.

"It's okay to fail. Just give it your all until the end."

Haruto looked at him in surprise.

"It's fine to fail?"

"Yes," Lucien replied warmly. "And if things become too difficult, you can even give up on my dream."

Before Haruto could reply, space and time began collapsing again. Lucien's soul started to fade.

"It seems like this is the end of my life," Lucien said calmly.

As Lucien disappeared, Haruto spoke with determination.

"I will complete your—no—our dream, no matter what."

Lucien smiled.

And then, his soul vanished.

The final boss of the novel

「The Creation」

was no more.
