Tony Stark and the God of Thunder didn't get to watch the show for very long.
The Chitauri army had converged here.
Not only that—
Up in the sky, an enormous whale-like battleship dropped down from above.
A body over a thousand meters long, armor tough enough to pierce several meters of reinforced concrete.
It emerged straight out of the sky portal.
A thick blue beam fired down from the heavens.
A nearly one-meter-wide energy ray blasted straight toward the ground.
Tony Stark and the God of Thunder were hit and slammed into the street.
Below them, an entire building was directly melted by the high-energy plasma stream, leaving a massive molten scar.
"Hulk, get over here and help. We've got a big one on this side," Tony Stark said into his headset.
"Thor, it's on you—hold that big thing down until Hulk gets here."
"I'll go support Cap and the others."
After saying that, Tony Stark shot straight up into the sky.
Thor: ???
Right now, he really wanted to beat Tony Stark to death.
Leaving him alone to deal with that battleship—was that something a human could do?!
That whale-like battleship wasn't just a warship—it was also carrying a huge number of Chitauri soldiers.
As it flew past, the sky was like dumplings being dropped into a pot—at least a hundred Chitauri fell down.
Thor was about to meet them head-on—
But then he realized something.
Those Chitauri were charging straight at that group of human sorcerers.
Thor smashed aside the Chitauri blocking his way with Mjolnir, trying to push over to reinforce them—
But…
There were simply too many Chitauri. He could barely move an inch.
Over there—
Kaecilius's expression also changed drastically.
A large wave of Chitauri flew this way.
In the distance, the huge whale-like battleship looped around, then came back again.
It opened its ferocious maw, and a thick blue beam shot straight this way.
All at once—
The blue high-energy firepower poured down like a rainstorm, blasting toward them.
"Defend!" Kaecilius shouted.
The sorcerers reacted immediately.
The energy inside their bodies linked together like a web, forming a single whole—then a massive combined shield more than twenty meters wide materialized.
Boom!
Blue energy scattered in all directions.
Violent ripples spread across the huge shield.
However—
The Chitauri bombardment continued. They had gotten smarter: knowing the sorcerers were powerful in close-quarters magic, they stayed at range and used sheer firepower to bombard them.
"This won't work!"
"Our energy will be depleted soon!"
A veteran sorcerer shouted.
Kaecilius's face remained grim.
If it weren't for so many sorcerers here, he could have withdrawn calmly.
But now, he was the core of this magical barrier.
If he left, the sorcerers would suffer catastrophic losses in an instant.
What to do?
Kaecilius was anxious.
"I'll do it," Karl said as he stepped forward.
Before anyone could agree, he passed straight through the magical barrier.
Shing!
Three Tao Mandalas appeared in Karl's hands.
They arranged themselves in a triangular formation and began spinning continuously.
Right in front of him, they actually formed a vortex.
The energy attacks fired by the Chitauri were either blocked—or flung away by that bizarre rotational force.
Karl advanced straight into the countless streaks of energy-light rain, pushing upstream against the barrage.
The sorcerers were stunned into silence.
Kaecilius's eyes narrowed; after observing carefully, his face turned pale with shock.
What was he seeing?!
This kid was using the interference between each shield!
Why couldn't sorcerers use multiple shields? Why was two the limit at most?
It wasn't that they didn't want to.
It was because it was extremely difficult.
Sorcery carries energy, and energy naturally produces disturbances and interference.
Even a thread of interference could cause a spell to collapse!
So what did Karl do?
He used the mutual interference between magical shields to form that vortex-like structure.
Under his mental control, those disturbances supported each other, directly becoming a layer of force-field.
Those energy weapons were either deflected—or directly absorbed, entering the Tao Mandalas' energy circuits.
What a genius idea.
What exquisite control.
Kaecilius had always believed his talent was outstanding.
But compared with Karl in front of him, he looked instantly shabby and inferior.
The sorcerers beside him stared wide-eyed, dumbfounded.
"Is this new magic, Master Sorcerer Kaecilius?" one sorcerer couldn't help but sigh.
"No. This is just… a Tao Mandalas," Kaecilius said, the corner of his mouth twitching.
The sorcerers were utterly shaken, yet they couldn't stop Karl from forcing his way forward.
That endless blue barrage—before his shields, it was as if it didn't exist.
Some of the energy was even used by Karl; the originally golden energy shields now had blue light threading through their centers.
Beautiful—and dangerous.
In just a few dozen seconds, Karl broke through to the front of the Chitauri.
In a burst of blue light, Karl's figure suddenly appeared.
"Had enough?"
"Now it's my turn."
Karl sneered. The three shields in his hands—already starting to slip out of control—shot out like blades, tearing through the air.
Even the energy beams were sliced apart by the spinning Tao Mandalas.
Crack!
The Tao Mandalas plunged straight into the belly of that massive whale-like battleship.
In an instant—
The world went silent.
In the next moment—
Blue-gold light erupted.
All of New York City seemed to gain a second sun!
The blinding light was clearly visible even from thousands of kilometers away.
A few dozen seconds later, the searing light dispersed.
The street was wiped clean.
Nearby ruined buildings, debris, shattered structures—and even the Chitauri still floating in the sky—were directly vaporized.
All that remained was an enormous crater, smoking continuously.
At the edge of the crater—
Thor looked at the scene and swallowed hard.
Gulp.
The power of this magic… was terrifying!
It even made him think of the Destroyer he had seen before.
The power that had just erupted likely already resembled the Destroyer by several degrees.
That wasn't an insult.
The Destroyer commanded by Odin could destroy a planet, easily annihilating the surface.
That was the pinnacle of Asgard's technological creation.
Yet this sorcerer had only used a single spell—and it had this level of power.
Thor couldn't help swallowing again.
The hand gripping his hammer trembled slightly.
Earlier, seeing how fierce this guy was, Thor had planned to spar with him after the war.
Now it seemed—
There was no need at all.
He was afraid he wouldn't survive even one spell, and would just get killed.
This guy was simply too abnormal!
Right now, Thor really wanted to complain.
Wasn't Midgard supposed to be the weakest of the Nine Realms?
This guy is "weak"?
Even all of Asgard couldn't find more than a few this strong!
This was way too abnormal!
