Chapter 30 - Music vs Technology. (2)

In the world Ariel had traveled to, magic worked through certain chants that could manifest miracles.

She, a professional idol on Earth, found that system very convenient.

Ariel revolutionized magic. She discovered that music, intonation, and emotion when performing a chant mattered.

She composed hundreds of "mystical songs" that were characterized not only by being beautiful but also by being very powerful.

Moreover, thanks to her wand that could not only record and transmit the music she made but also emit any melody she imagined, Ariel was practically the perfect mage.

If it weren't for the fact that she preferred creating a beautiful melody over a powerful spell, she surely would have perfectly mastered the magic of her world.

The light explosions didn't transmit energy. Rather, it was a visual way of transferring an effect.

Therefore, the mecha's thermal defenses were useless.

The armor was destroyed in multiple places, however that didn't worry Jeremy too much.

As quickly as his armor was destroyed, several blue lines appeared, drawing the armor's outline and repairing it.

"So that's your choice!? Fine, but don't think I'll show you mercy just because you're a brat," the man said as multiple missiles fired from his chest toward the girl.

The girl reacted quickly, snapping her fingers.

The music suddenly changed to a softer, sadder melody.

As it did, several transparent shields materialized around her, which blocked the missile explosions.

Ariel released her wand as it elongated to the length of a staff.

With agility the girl grabbed the staff and sat on it sideways.

The staff held her in the air while flying, then shot away at great speed from the place, followed by a trail in the shape of a musical staff.

"You won't escape!" Jeremy assured as his mecha also accelerated and began firing more missiles from its body.

The girl accelerated at great speed while several missiles impacted against the shields her melody created.

She zigzagged agilely in the air while dodging projectiles.

"Tch, as expected from a man. When he doesn't get what he wants he becomes aggressive," the woman complained as she performed an elegant dance in the air. "Time for a little [Rock and Roll]."

She said.

Suddenly, multiple shields were created, forming a thick invisible dome around her made of hundreds of shields.

Then the melody suddenly changed. That soft, somewhat sad melody suddenly changed to hard rock.

The scores changed as the sound propagated in irregular waves throughout the space.

The missiles began exploding prematurely while the mecha started cracking.

"Now that's music I like better," Jeremy affirmed as he extended his arms, creating an energy dome around him.

His ability was incredibly versatile. He could create practically any technology he imagined.

However, that shield broke into hundreds of pieces before Ariel's music.

"What? Shit, how am I supposed to defend against that?" the boy complained as the armor's metal cracked more and more. "I suppose I'll have to go with the best defense: a good offense."

The man exclaimed as he aimed his arms at Ariel.

Suddenly, blue lines ran along the mecha's arm, which began to transform.

Jeremy couldn't just create objects he imagined but also rewrite them.

His mecha's arms were replaced by two cannons.

Both began charging with energy, then each fired a thermal ray.

The two thermal energy rays quickly pierced through the hundreds of shields surrounding the girl, making their way at great speed toward Ariel.

However, with extreme elegance and precision, the girl maneuvered to dodge the rays at great speed.

"What an annoying power. I should think about ending the fight quickly," the girl said as the music began to change.

Ariel had achieved a revolutionary form of magic.

The combination of styles.

Also known as superimposed chants, the girl could mix two or more songs together to strengthen each other.

Suddenly, the rock began mixing with pop in a structured and functional melody.

Suddenly, the clouds parted as an enormous golden halo appeared in the sky.

Within it, a small heart began pulsing to the rhythm of the melody that kept playing.

"That looks dangerous. I suppose I'll have to get serious too," the boy affirmed with a smile.

The music and action had become a cocktail of adrenaline for Jeremy, who was increasingly excited about the battle.

The mecha quickly disassembled, then reassembled on the ground in the form of a gigantic cannon.

"Time to test it! Super antimatter cannon!" Jeremy exclaimed.

Jeremy didn't know much about physics, so he wasn't entirely clear what antimatter was.

However, that mattered little, since what fueled his power was his imagination.

"[Love Love Super Nova]!" the girl exclaimed as her song completed.

The heart in the sky began to glow and suddenly exploded.

At the same time, Jeremy's cannon glowed with contained silver energy.

Both attacks were executed. A shot of pure energy and a ray of creative energy collided in the air.

However, something caught both their attention. Before both attacks struck each other, a silhouette had appeared between both displays of power.

But there was no time to focus on that, because when both attacks collided, an immense scarlet and white explosion erupted.
