FROM THE SKY

Chapter 2 – The World That Abandoned Him

The cold stone beneath Lux's fingers felt real.

Too real.

Every breath sent waves of pain through his shattered body. Blood soaked his clothes, dripping slowly into the cracks of the cave floor. His vision blurred, yet the darkness around him was absolute, endless, like the void itself had swallowed him whole.

So this is how it ends, Lux thought.

Betrayed.

Discarded.

Forgotten.

He could still hear their laughter—those guards who called themselves knights of the Sky Guard Empire. The ones who were supposed to protect heroes. They had mocked him, shot him like an animal, and left him to die in this cursed mountain.

Because he was weak.

Because he was useless.

His fingers brushed against something soft and unfamiliar. A piece of dark blue cloth lay beneath him, oddly untouched by the dust and decay of the cave. It felt ancient… yet alive.

"What… is this…?" he whispered.

The moment he touched it, the world shattered.

A burning pain pierced his chest as if an invisible spear had stabbed straight through his heart. Lux screamed—but no sound came out. A glowing hand, formed from crimson light, emerged from his chest, gripping something deep within him.

Then—

Darkness swallowed everything.

---

Lux opened his eyes to nothingness.

No cave.

No pain.

No body.

He floated in an endless black space, as though he had fallen between worlds.

Then, something began to appear.

Memories.

Not his.

He saw stars being born and destroyed. He saw galaxies crushed like dust beneath a single will. He saw a being standing in the void, surrounded by shattered planets and burning skies.

The ancient god.

The one who had sealed his power.

Lux felt emotions flood into his soul—rage, sorrow, betrayal, loneliness beyond imagination. The god had once ruled everything… and yet had been hunted, torn apart, and left to die just like Lux himself.

"So you are the one who touched my seal…" a deep voice echoed.

A red jewel appeared before Lux, glowing like a beating heart.

"I am the core of an Outer God," it said. "I was sealed for thousands of years, waiting for a worthy vessel. Someone who understands despair. Someone who knows hatred."

Lux clenched his fists.

"They tried to erase me," he whispered. "They called me useless. They threw me away like garbage."

The jewel pulsed.

"I will give you power beyond gods," it said. "In exchange… you will fulfill my revenge. Destroy those who betrayed us. Tear down this false world."

Lux's lips curved upward.

A dark, broken smile.

"I don't care what you are," he said. "If you give me the strength to make them pay… I accept."

The jewel sank into his chest.

Pain unlike anything he had ever known exploded through his being. His soul felt like it was being torn apart and rebuilt again and again. Infinite knowledge poured into him—combat, magic, worlds, dimensions, laws of reality.

> [Outer God Inheritance Initiated]

[Soul Compatibility: 100%]

[50 Seals Applied]

Lux screamed as his consciousness was dragged back into his body.

---

He awoke inside the collapsed cave.

His wounds were still there—but something had changed. His blood glowed faintly. His heartbeat felt stronger. His senses sharper.

A glowing screen appeared before his eyes.

> [Seal 1 Opened]

Skills Acquired: Cooking, Wood Chopping

Affinity Acquired: Earth

Lux stared at it.

"…You're joking."

After all that… cooking?

He laughed. A broken, exhausted laugh that echoed through the cave.

"So even now… I'm a joke to the world."

But then he felt it.

Something deeper.

Hidden beneath the seals.

An ocean of power so vast it made his soul tremble.

This was just the beginning.

Lux slowly pulled himself to his feet. His body screamed in pain, but he didn't fall.

> [Pain Converted → Strength +3%]

He blinked.

"…What?"

With every step, his pain was being turned into power.

The dark-blue coat he had grabbed earlier suddenly wrapped around his body, shifting and fitting itself perfectly.

> [Outer God Relic Detected – Void Cloak]

[4 Seals Locked]

A black ring appeared on his finger.

> [Unknown Artifact Detected]

Lux didn't know what they did.

But he knew one thing.

They were not ordinary.

He stepped out of the collapsed cave.

The sun was rising.

Its golden light touched his blood-covered face, painting him in red and gold. The world looked peaceful… as if nothing terrible had happened.

Far away, the Sky Guard Empire stood tall.

Lux looked at it.

"They summoned me," he whispered. "Used me. Then tried to kill me."

His fists trembled.

"I trusted them."

The pain in his chest wasn't from his wounds.

It was from betrayal.

"I won't be a hero," he said softly. "Heroes die for others."

His eyes darkened.

"I'll become something worse."

He raised his head toward the sky.

"I'll become the one they fear."

Far away, deep within the Abyss, something ancient stirred.

The first seal had broken.

And fate itself had begun to move.
