Chapter 10 - Aren's Debut

"What happened?

What was that sudden noise?

Why did the call get cut so abruptly?"

He then took a taxi, went to the last active location on her phone, and that's where he gets to know about the accident and the hospital she was taken to.

The scene then shifts to him taking another cab to the hospital.

But the scene doesn't cut directly to the hospital.

Instead, the male lead's gaze turns furious as he is shown mumbling through gritted teeth:

"I will not leave you, bastard.

You shouldn't have touched her."

He then uses his phone to call someone, but the voice on the phone isn't revealed to the viewers.

"Who is he talking to?" Sasha wondered.

Then, her eyes widened. "Is he talking to Aren Frost?"

The male lead is shown asking for help from someone:

"I need your help."

"No, this is serious."

"You have to come."

The male lead then sighs and says with tears in his eyes:

"She... She is in a hospital!

That bastard, he targeted her!"

As soon as he said that, he added again:

"It's the city hospital."

And the call ends.

The viewers were able to make the responses he was getting on the call from his dialogues and reactions.

That was also a sign of good direction, writing, and acting.

Even Aren agreed as he nodded:

"At least the lead actor can act in a somewhat acceptable manner."

Leon wasn't an exceptional actor.

He just got the job done.

He was only famous for his looks, not award-winning acting.

Moreover, he was shooting two dramas at once, which didn't give him any time to prepare for his scenes to give an impactful performance.

The audience couldn't feel the flaws in his acting, and that was largely because of good direction by the director. He created the illusion so perfectly that even the flaws in Leon's acting were hidden unless seen with the intent to critique his acting.

However, for Sasha, Leon was the greatest actor in the world.

She was rooting for him and wanted to believe in him.

However, since Aren wasn't in the same illusion, he could help but mutter when looking at the screen.

"How horrible..."

On the screen, the male lead was crying beside the unconscious heroine, who had been declared to be in a coma. The doctor informs him that her condition could worsen.

It was clear—emotional scenes were not Leon's strong suit. They could even be said to be his weakness.

His expressions were exaggerated, his dialogues forced, and his body language awkward.

If someone were to critique his performance, they would only see poor acting.

However, for Sasha, his acting wasn't bad at all.

She was crying, hearing Leon's self-blaming about how he couldn't protect her and seeing him apologize to the unconscious heroine.

Maybe it was because Sasha had followed the show from the first episode, so she could feel a connection to the hero and heroine.

And their distress seemed real to her.

"You are hurt yourself, Leo..."

She mumbled with a solemn expression.

"It's not your fault."

Well, she was a nineteen year old teenager with a crush on Leon, after all.

She couldn't be blamed for being so immersed in the episode.

The screen then showed the doctor requesting Leon's character to get treated himself.

At first, he refused, but after the doctor's constant persuasion, he went along with it.

And when he came out with bandages all over, Sasha's heart ached.

He then went and sat on the seat outside the ICU.

With only five and a half minutes left in the end of the episode, a new character enters, or would it be more appropriate to say—

Storms inside the hospital.

With Leon sitting on the seat solemnly, the doors to the ICU corridor section bursts open with a force that shouldn't be used in a hospital.

The door makes a loud sound, announcing the entry of someone... someone dangerous!

This banging noise attracts everyone's attention, from Leo to the staff of the hospital, and from Sasha to Aren.

Then someone enters, not slow, not fast.

There wasn't much distance between the doors and the wall in front of him, anyway. He couldn't run straight even if he wanted to.

He was tall, with broad shoulders, adorned in a black suit and matching pants with a gray tie that was loosened instead of neatly tightened around his neck. His white shirt underneath created a stark contrast between his dark suit and gray tie.

His raven black hair was a bit disheveled, as if he had just ran to this place.

His chestnut brown eyes carried a myriad of emotions in them right now.

He takes two hurried steps inside and looks left and right with a panicked and pained expression as if the person he loved the most had been admitted in this very hospital.

It wasn't obvious at first glance, but the way he looked left and right told the viewer he was in a hurry.

His gaze then fixes on Leon's character, who was standing right now, looking back at him with an apologetic expression.

As soon as he sees Leo, the pain, panic, and hurry disappears, only one emotion hiding in his eyes—

Fury.

Leon limps forward and says apologetically:

"Shin, I'm sorry..."

And as he was speaking, the person he called Shin walks forward at a speed that seemed impossible to achieve by only walking.

His walk alone told a thousand words, giving a hint of his emotions and what was to come.

Right now, the screen showed Leon's back and Shin walking towards him.

And as he gets closer, the viewers gets to see the expression on his face.

His eyes were glistened, his lips trembling with either fury or grief; no one knew.

His fists were clenched, and his body took hurried steps that seemed to close the distance between them in less than three seconds.

"I'm sorry for not protect—"

Bam!

Shin punches the moment he gets near Leon.
