Amara's POV :
I showed up at Vale at 8:55 AM, five minutes early like yesterday, expecting to go straight to Roman's office.
William stopped me in the lobby before I even made it to the elevators.
"Miss Reyes." He appeared out of nowhere, calm as always. "Change of plans."
I froze. "What do you mean?"
"Mr. Vale asked me to bring you in through a different entrance today." His face gave nothing away. "Follow me."
My stomach dropped. "Why?"
"He'll explain." William was already walking toward a side hallway I'd never noticed, away from the main lobby. "This way."
This felt like a trap. Following Roman Vale's security guy into some back entrance was exactly how people ended up missing.
But I'd already agreed to work with him, it was too late to back out now.
I followed William down the hallway, through a door marked "Staff Only," down another corridor that smelled like cleaning supplies and old coffee.
"Where are we going?"
"Service elevator. Quieter route."
