Amara's POV :
I was three pages into a 2009 article about Vale's overseas partnerships when someone sat down across from me.
I looked up and my stomach dropped.
The guy from the street, the one who'd stopped me after I followed Roman, told me to go home and be smarter.
"Miss Reyes." His voice was calm like we were just talking.
I closed my laptop slow. "Are you following me?"
"Mr. Vale wants to see you."
"Tell him I'm not interested."
"It wasn't a request."
I looked around the library, a few people at tables, the librarian sorting books. Nobody paying attention.
"What if I say no?"
"Then I'll wait here until you change your mind." He leaned back, completely relaxed. "But you're curious what he wants so you'll come anyway."
I hated that he was right.
I was curious. Roman had kicked me out of his office, yelled at me when Ethan got hurt, now he was sending his guy to get me?
Either he found something or this was a trap.
