I woke up to the smell of pancakes and coffee, which was already suspicious because Daniel never cooked unless he was trying to prove something. My head felt like someone had used it as a drum all night, body still achy in places I didn't want to think about, and I was wearing his stupid oversized gray T-shirt that hung to mid-thigh like I was some kind of drowned cat in borrowed clothes. It smelled like him, sweat, pine soap, that dumb alpha scent that clung to everything he touched and yeah, I hated how much I didn't hate it. Secretly inhaling it when no one was looking? Absolutely not admitting that out loud. Ever.
I stumbled out of the bedroom rubbing sleep out of my eyes, hair sticking up in every direction like I'd lost a fight with a tornado. Daniel was already at the stove flipping pancakes like he was planning for a cooking show nobody asked for. He turned when he heard me, grinned that stupid lopsided grin, and said, "Morning, princess. Hungry?"
