I owe you? You're the one who screamed 'daddy' loud enough to wake the dead.
He laughed against my chest, muffled, wrecked, and squeezed me harder. I was leaking all over his fist. He was dripping down my wrist. We were a goddamn mess.
How long we stayed like that? No clue. Minutes? Ten? Twenty? Time stopped existing until voices cut through.
Shouts.
Flashlights cut through the trees.
"Daniel! Sky!"
My mom's voice came hoarse and cracking.
Sky froze. His mouth was still on me. His eyes went wide.
I yanked the shirt down fast. Almost took skin with it. Sky stumbled back. The blanket slipped off one shoulder. We looked like we had been mauled by bears and fucked by wolves at the same time.
People crashed through the brush. Search party. Flashlights blinded us. My mom broke through first. She saw us and burst into ugly heaving sobs.
"Oh my God oh my God you're alive you're alive."
