Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: In London

Joey adjusted his demeanor, then widened his eyes into a look of sorrow, and grasped Lan Chu's shoulders.

"Oh, why! God! Why!"

Lan Chu froze in place, watching Joey in surprise.

"Why must it be this way! Why must you leave! Can you... for me... stay!" Joey's lines perfectly mirrored Lan Chu's inner feelings; the exaggerated Joey seemed perfectly appropriate in Lan Chu's eyes at that moment. She also wished James could stay for her.

"You can't do this to me! Don't our memories, our past, mean anything to you anymore! Stay! Stay!" Joey delivered the lines hoarsely, slowly embracing Lan Chu, sliding down her body, and kneeling there.

"OK, I'll stay." Lan Chu unconsciously played along.

Joey hadn't expected Lan Chu to play along. He lifted his head in momentary surprise, then quickly switched emotions again, stood up, and hugged Lan Chu tightly.

"Stop," the Chinese person shouted.

"I actually think this Chinese Miss's emotional state was perfect, but... sorry, Joey, I think you were a little too exaggerated," the lady beside them said.

"I can act differently! I don't just have one style of acting, I'm Doctor Drake Ramoray..."

"Joey, Joey, I'm very sorry, but you really don't fit our role. And to this Chinese Miss, we also regret that we don't have any other female roles for you to play," the lady said.

"Aww~" Joey dejectedly left the room. Lan Chu grabbed Joey's bag and followed him.

"Joey!"

"Joey! Are you alright?" Lan Chu ran a few steps before catching up to him.

"No... I failed again... I don't even remember how many times this has happened..." Joey slumped onto a bench by the road.

"Joey~, don't be discouraged. You're very talented; this is just one failure, it doesn't mean anything. You know, I think you're very handsome, and your acting is good, much better than those spoiled kids back where I live." Lan Chu lightly patted Joey's shoulder.

"Really?" Flattered, Joey instantly cheered up and smiled as he looked at Lan Chu.

"Really."

"You're right, it's just one failure. I used to be Doctor Drake Ramoray, I'm great!" Joey stood up.

"Hey, are you free now?" Joey had a sudden idea.

"I am."

"How about we go buy some beer and fried chicken, come to my Apartment, and be happy all day, forgetting all the bad stuff?" Joey suggested, looking at Lan Chu expectantly.

"Sounds good, but unfortunately Monica, Rachel, Ross, and Chandler are all at work right now. Let's call Phoebe, she's freelance." Lan Chu said.

"OK!"

...

Fried chicken and beer, the TV playing Joey's favorite show, Baywatch... "This is great! A three-person Party!" Phoebe was sitting on a stool, swaying and looking very cute.

"Hey, Phoebe!" Lan Chu took a piece of popcorn. Phoebe instantly understood her meaning, opened her mouth, and successfully caught the popcorn.

"Ladies! The beer is here!" Joey brought out the ice-cold beer.

"Nice!"

"Hey, watch me!" Phoebe balanced the beer on her head, excitedly showing the other two.

The entire room was filled with laughter. In the world outside the drama, Lan Chu had never laughed so freely, and she didn't seem to miss James as much anymore.

Soon, Monica and the others returned. Hearing them, the three immediately went to Monica's Apartment.

Monica saw the three people rush in, smiled helplessly, and reached out to remove the popcorn from Lan Chu's head.

"Joey, how was your audition?" Chandler asked casually.

Joey was preoccupied with the corn chips Monica had brought out and replied casually, "What audition?"

"Congratulations," Lan Chu, standing nearby, patted Joey's back with relief.

"Rachel, can I borrow your eyelash curler tomorrow? I forgot mine at the hotel," Monica asked while rummaging through her bag.

At that moment, Joey looked like a switch had been flipped; he became completely agitated. But his brain was clearly faster than his mouth, until Chandler reacted and pulled him into Monica's bedroom, and Monica followed them in.

"What's wrong with them?" Rachel asked, confused and bewildered.

"Do you think those two are trying to steal Joey?" Phoebe exclaimed in surprise.

Until a voice shouted from inside, "In London!"

"What is it?" Rachel stood up, about to go over, but Lan Chu quickly stepped forward and blocked her.

"Rachel, can you help me choose some outfits?"

"Of course, no problem, but let me see what's going on with them first." Rachel raised her hand.

"Do you really need to go look at them, Rachel!" Lan Chu raised her voice.

Monica immediately opened the door.

"Rachel, what is it?"

Rachel peered inside. Chandler was standing behind Monica, smiling normally, while only Joey was sitting forlornly on the bed, like a wounded puppy. Although Rachel was confused, she couldn't figure out what was happening.

"Nothing, I was just going to get my eyelash curler for you."
