Cassian tilted his head to the side, his eyes showing nothing. "What's the situation?" he asked, an unmistakable warning in his voice.
My stomach tightened like I was going to puke.
Why was Cassian asking as if he couldn't see the gun already pointed in his direction?
Jemma squeezed my hand tightly. "Is this part of the surprise?"
My chest squeezed, my throat parched dry.
I shook my head, trembling fingers grabbing the hem of my cocktail dress.
"I don't know, Mum," I said, lips trembling, my voice lower than a whisper.
"Don't try anything funny, Cass," Nico muttered, his voice dropping low with impatience.

I shook the thought away.
Nico wouldn't do it.
