Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: First Bad Mission

Adam jerked his head up, incredulous at what he had just read.

"Eh?... WHAT THE FUCK!?"

He was genuinely starting to get angry over all this stupidity.

"Don't fuck with me." He looked at Cassia. "You!"

"Y-yes? Your Excellency…" she replied, trying to pull herself together quickly.

"What gang has me trapped? Is it Zinyo? Or is it Drexo?"

Those were the gangs self-proclaimed as the closest in power to Nirio, the one his father led.

Cassia could only let out a dry sound from her mouth, clearly confused.

"W-what do you mean by trapped? No one would be capable of laying a finger on you, my lord." She answered, hysterical and even more worried.

Adam looked at her for a second and then sank back into his thoughts, trying to understand this whole shitty situation.

He looked back at the screen, hoping the system had disappeared the same way it had appeared, but no. There it was, still showing him that incoherent mission.

'No. I don't understand anything.'

He had spent nights with all kinds of women, older, younger, all at his father's request to form alliances or handle imperial matters, so the idea of sleeping with Cassia meant nothing to him.

What he did remember was that he had fought against the other gangs, that they had won, and that he supposedly should have died. But apparently not.

He looked at his hand, the one that had been injured before, and now it was in perfect condition. That unsettled him more than he wanted to admit.

Then he looked ahead. Cassia was still standing there, motionless, watching him with a concern that was crystal clear in her eyes.

He sighed inwardly and tried to calm himself. 'I must act normal…'

He remembered the sheets thrown to the side of the bed, so he got up, walked over to one of the chairs in the room, and sat down. He crossed his right leg over the left and looked back at Cassia.

"Make my bed." He ordered. He had seen the girl's uniform and it resembled that of a maid; besides, what he had read from the system confirmed it was correct.

Cassia obeyed immediately and gladly. She began to make the bed and pick up the mess in the room while he watched her.

Adam rested his cheek against his fist. 'I remember seeing something like this once… But where?' He tried to recall it, but nothing came clearly.

Until suddenly he remembered: an adult man in a manga shop. He had run into him right after beating up some small-time thugs, so he had time to spare and went in out of curiosity.

There he saw a bunch of guys of all ages buying manga or novels. He didn't know until he read the signs separating the sections.

Out of curiosity, he read one that talked about a boy who died and was sent to another world with a system that helped him.

It seemed like total stupidity to him, and he left the shop immediately.

'Could it be something like that?' He glanced sideways at the screen still showing the mission. 'But… why me?'

+--------------------+

[And why not? You had nothing in your previous life, everything you achieved was by following others' orders. Here you can do whatever you want. Of course, if you have the strength to do it.]

+--------------------+

The message changed to that answer, perfect for him. Adam read it and then felt disgust.

'It even reads my thoughts. Great.'

If so many years of experience had taught him anything, it was that you couldn't trust anyone who appeared out of nowhere.

And this system was exactly that.

He looked back at the screen. The mission was still there. The only thing that caught his attention was that "status" part that would unlock if he completed it.

'Maybe… I should do what it says and see what happens.' It wasn't very different from before: completing missions assigned by others.

He stood up with a sigh and looked at Cassia's back. The work clothes left a lot of skin exposed. She looked well-kept and delicate.

He approached slowly, without making a sound. Not because she was a danger—far from it—but because moving like that already came naturally to him.

Cassia was finishing adjusting the last pillow on the luxurious bed. She turned around and found herself face to face with Adam's chest. He was wearing light sleepwear.

Surprised, she looked up due to the difference in height.

"Your Excellency? Is something wrong?" she asked, worried she had done something wrong.

But she received no answer. She only saw how Adam raised his hand and brought it toward her face. By instinct, she froze in fear, expecting some punishment.

But none of that came.

The last thing she expected… She startled when she felt his warm, soft hand on her ear. She quickly blushed as she noticed how those fingers traced every centimeter with a care that only intensified the sensation.

"W-what are y-you d-doing, m-master?" she asked between gasps, the blush rising all the way to the tips of her ears.

Adam didn't change his expression. That simple touch had made the girl react as he had seen many times in other women when they were aroused.

'I barely touched her… Could this be a weak point of this species?'

He pulled his hand away and observed her more closely. Cassia had a mix of satisfaction and shame on her face. Red ears, flushed expression. Her legs slightly pressed together, as if she wanted to do something down there. And her body was visibly trembling.

'It was easier than I thought…' He placed both hands on her shoulders.

Cassia looked at him timidly. "M-master?"

"What's wrong? You don't use 'Your Excellency' anymore just because I touched your ears?" he replied in a colder tone than he intended.

She became even more embarrassed and lowered her gaze, ashamed. It was something she couldn't control even if she wanted to, and if she could, she still wouldn't if it was her master who caused it.

But Adam lifted her face with his hand, locking both gazes: one cold, the other warm.

"Y-your Ex-Excellency?" she murmured.

Before doing what he was about to do, Adam looked back at the mission.

+--------------------+

[New mission unlocked]

You have frightened Cassia, your young servant, and now she feels she has failed her duty. For her worry to disappear, you must sleep with her.

Time remaining to complete the mission: 5 minutes.

Reward: you will unlock the "status" section and improve Cassia's mood.

Punishment: Death.

+--------------------+

Only five minutes. If he didn't do it, he would supposedly die. And he didn't want to take the risk. He was going to get answers one way or another. And this mission was ridiculously easy.

He looked at Cassia again and, without hesitating for a single second, kissed her.
