Through the gold-adorned bay window, a few rays of light streamed in, filtering through the thin white curtain.
They struck the face of a black-haired young man, around twenty years old.
"Ughs…?"
He was completely asleep and muttered something unintelligible, his lips wet from a line of drool that dampened the bed.
He moved abruptly, unable to endure the sunlight directly on his face, shifting to the left, where he was just a few centimeters from the edge of the bed, ultimately falling off along with the sheets.
TASH
The sound of the fall filled the enormous room, but without alarming anyone in the mansion.
This young man was Adam, who the instant he fell woke up immediately, becoming even more tangled in the sheets.
'What the hell?' he thought, confused and slightly dizzy, frantically trying to rid himself of whatever was restraining him.
But it didn't take long for him to see that they were just some simple dark sheets with a peculiar design.
"Huh?"
Calmly, he began to free himself and stand up, first glancing sideways at the enormous bed where he had been sleeping comfortably, then looking around him.
All of this only gave him a headache as he tried to understand what the hell was going on. 'Is this some kind of hospital room?'
He quickly dismissed that possibility; he had never seen anything like this before, and besides, everything looked high-quality. The furniture had designs similar to those in his house, antique. Obviously acquired illegally.
'Was I captured by a rival gang?'
That dangerous thought put him on alert, looking toward the door cautiously, ready to attack at any moment if necessary.
Unfortunately for the servant who was about to enter the room to wake the young man, she came in with utmost professionalism, unaware that Adam was already on his feet.
Seeing the door open, Adam went on guard, his fist ready to strike whoever entered without warning.
As he had been taught: attack first, ask questions later.
He half-closed his eyes, waiting for the exact moment when the person would be far enough inside to strike, and so it was.
He moved at a speed that unsettled him. 'What the hell?'
He was far slower than he remembered. He looked forward again, seeing the woman in strange clothing closing the door with her back to him, completely unguarded.
That confused him even more, but he wasn't going to stop, no.

[DO NOT ATTACK]

'What?' He looked at the strange screen that appeared in front of him, which completely threw him off, and he ended up tripping over his own feet as he lunged toward the young woman.
She, upon turning and seeing him rushing at her, panicked, raising her arms to her chest and closing her eyes in fear.
"KYAAAA!"
PUSH!
Cassia began to open her eyes little by little, seeing Adam right in front of her with a disturbed expression, looking down at her.
"Y-your Excell—" she murmured, but then her gaze fell on her master's fist against the door, where blood was seeping from his knuckles, dripping down the door and staining her right shoulder.
Instead of getting angry or leaving because of what Adam had done, she became extremely agitated upon seeing her master bleeding.
"Y-your Excellency! Your hand!" she cried out, flustered, while her arms trembled noticeably.
Adam focused solely on her, confused, understanding nothing. He looked at the screen again in case he had imagined it, but he hadn't; the same message was still there.
'Tamer System…? Was I drugged?' was the first explanation that seemed to make sense.
He read the contents of the screen once, twice, three times. He didn't notice until Cassia finished cleaning the blood from his hand with her own uniform, gently holding his wrist with her left hand and extending her right a few centimeters from the wound.
Adam tilted his head as he looked at her, trying to understand what she was about to do, since Cassia had closed her eyes and was murmuring something that sounded stupid to his ears.
'What a… stupid way to play doctor,' he thought, remembering when he had seen a mother say that over her child's wound, supposedly so it would heal faster.
But his eyes widened in disbelief when a faint green light appeared over Cassia's palm, which began to heal the wound on his knuckles.
"W-what!?" he rasped hoarsely, incredulous.
After a few seconds, Cassia finished conjuring her low-level healing magic spell, sighing and smiling in relief when she saw the wound healed without leaving a single trace on her master's pale, smooth skin.
"Your Excellency, with all due respect, but if you wish to punish me for something I did wrong, you should tell me; that way you can avoid having to do something as dangerous as this."
Just hearing her made him feel sick. Who the hell was this woman in front of him, and why was she calling him Your Excellency? And what the hell was that last part? 'Is she a masochist or what?'
After that, he noticed the girl's peculiarly long ears.
They were quite long and pointed, contrasting with her white hair and red eyes.
An elf, plain and simple.
Adam knew that term—elf; it was something fairly common in famous movies he had watched at least for a while.
But seeing one in person and under these conditions only made him step back, distancing himself from her.
'T-this is wrong…' he thought, feeling his heart race. 'I must be drugged, yeah.'
He sat on the edge of the bed, resting his chin on his hands, which were on his legs, bouncing up and down rapidly.
Cassia could only look at him in that state, which was deeply worrying to her; she felt as if her throat were drying up. 'Did I say something wrong?' she thought anxiously.
"Y-your Ex-excellency…" she murmured.
Adam looked at her instantly, tensing. But then he saw the translucent blue screen in front of his eyes again.
