Chapter 7 – The Seer's Flawless Speech
"As for why I think Player 3 is off, let me briefly explain my read."
To make the outer-position Good Guys think even worse of the Pointy-faced Man, Wang Changsheng didn't mind adding a few more strokes.
I can't touch Player 6, but you—a wolf king who was poisoned out—think I can't touch you?
Wang Changsheng said: "Player 3 sat right across from me, so I had a clear view. After he first looked at his card he froze, then pretentiously went back for a second look."
"I'm telling you, bro—even I, the substitute, know every single identity in my sleep, and you're still putting on a show of checking twice? I'm sure plenty of you noticed it too. Such an affected performance; I can't believe he's a Good Player Card, it screams Werewolf Card pretending he didn't see his role."
In truth, Wang Changsheng's point here was a bit of a stretch.
But he didn't care.
Most people in the outer positions knew the bad blood between their team and the Pointy-faced Man's.
So they actually found this slightly sarcastic tone of his rather agreeable.
Had he flat-out claimed Player 3 was a Good Guy from this spot, the rest of the Good Guys would've trusted him even less.
As Wang Changsheng spoke
the eyes of the remaining ten players drifted back and forth between him and the Pointy-faced Man.
They were trying to read their expressions to decide whether the two really were on opposite sides,
and to see how the Pointy-faced Man would react to Wang Changsheng's barrage of mockery.
Many in the room had heard of the grudge between the two teams.
Yet the Pointy-faced Man lived up to his status as Gun Shoots Like Dragon's ace.
His only response to Wang Changsheng's speech was a calm, disdainful half-smile.
He showed none of the panic of a caught wolf.
To the outer-position players, that read as a Good Guy reaction.
Wang Changsheng, meeting that seemingly mocking smile, wasn't angry.
The man was already dead anyway.
He was only roasting Player 3 to build Good Guy credit in the mind of Player 10, the True Seer.
That was one of the few remaining uses of this Gun Shoots Like Dragon guy.
As long as the Seer could accept him, Wang Changsheng figured Player 10 would very likely check Player 6 beside him tonight.
After all, only five cards were on the podium.
Player 3 would surely run against Player 10, while Wang Changsheng had just declared reads that Players 10 and 11 were Good and attacked Player 3.
Player 11 was the Golden Water Player 10 had found, and although Player 6's speech from a guarded seat was decent, he had still attacked the Golden Water card the Seer had revealed.
From Player 10's seat, there were probably at least two wolves on the podium.
So if Player 10 accepted him and chose to check Player 6 among the podium cards, Wang Changsheng could jump out as the Witch tomorrow and the game would be simple.
One self-knifed wolf out.
One poisoned wolf king out.
One Backward Wolf out.
Wang Changsheng guessed that, during voting, the last remaining Werewolf Card would most likely charge and cast a blatant vote.
That way, through the Seer's lens, all four wolves would be found.
"Then I've nothing more to say. Three cards are still on the podium—let's hear them and see who claims Seer."
"I pass."
As Wang Changsheng's voice fell
the Judge spoke.
[Player 10, please begin your speech.]
Player 10 stood up with a chuckle: "I found Old Chu, Player 11, to be a Golden Water card. My badge flow will be Player 6 and Player 7 for now, so the wolves don't Self-Destruct."
(Badge flow = Seer's Night Ability Target Order)
"Then I'll chat a bit, and maybe adjust the badge flow later."
Player 10's face carried easy confidence.
He was pleased with this speaking order.
Only five cards on the podium, and two had already spoken.
He could still throw a Golden Water to a later seat—
wasn't that infinite strength?
His Seer equity would skyrocket in the eyes of the outer-position Good Guys.
And indeed it did.
Even the off-field audience erupted.
Because Player 10 wasn't afraid the Golden Water might turn and run for Seer—that was real strength.
If Player 10 was the True Seer,
then Wang Changsheng's point on Player 3 might really be a wolf.
At that thought,
every contestant in the game and every viewer outside instinctively eyed Player 3, the Pointy-faced Man, with deep suspicion.
Player 10 continued, relaxed.
"The thought process behind my check was simple: pick left or right. Old Chu and I are old rivals; his skill needs no explanation."
"So if I'd found a check-kill he'd speak first; a Golden Water and he'd close the vote. With his ability he could give everyone a solid Good Guy perspective to confirm I'm the real Seer."
Player 10 looked steady.
He first announced his check and badge flow, then explained his reasoning—huge strength, and to outer-position Good Guys it looked exactly like a True Seer's view.
"Next, my badge flow: I didn't mention it earlier because my strength felt too big; I feared wolves would Self-Destruct before I could report my check."
"Now that Player 3 didn't blow up, I'm glad—it means he's probably Wolf Gun, so we can't vote him out this round."
"Therefore my badge flow is Player 6 and Player 7, both on the podium. Under-sheriff votes will tell; anyone who votes for Player 3 is auto-ousted without further check—saves me losing a flow if the player I want to check votes for Player 3."
"And I'm pressing both on the podium because I couldn't read Players 6 and Player 7; both said I, Player 10 look like a Good card and didn't run. If I jump Seer they'll likely side with me, so I can't ignore the chance they pre-positioned as Backward Wolves."
"Of course, if one of Players 6 or Player 7 is a wolf that's fine—this round isn't theirs, nor Player 3's; it belongs to the under-sheriff voters."
"That's about it. Don't ask why I don't press two under-sheriff; just watch the votes. If every vote lands on me, that's unlikely anyway."
"In this setup wolves need to charge, or the only wolf in the spotlight is probably Wolf Gun and we can't touch him. As long as we avoid Wolf Gun and the Witch is alive, we stay ahead in votes."
"All right, Player 3 has to run now. If you believe he's the Seer, then mark me and Player 11 as twin wolves—so listen and see if Player 11 sounds like one. I pass."
