Chapter 10 - [Game 1 - Prelims] Player 3 really is a Wolf? Damn that Witch.

Chapter 10 – Player 3 really is a Wolf? Damn that Witch.

Every player around the round table shifted their attention to Wang Changsheng as the Pointy-faced Man spoke.

Admittedly, Player 3 had some skill; at the very least, his rabble-rousing was pretty effective.

Before he spoke, most Good Players on the field had already believed Player 10 was the Seer.

But after hearing his speech, many players whose hidden role was Good began to hesitate.

After all, in Werewolf, most Good Guys don't know one another.

Apart from the Seer and the Witch, very little information is known on the first night.

Pretty much every other Good role is effectively playing blind.

So they can only judge a person's identity by listening to speeches and reading behaviour.

Of course, when you're trying to spot the Wolves, you don't even have to listen to the suspect.

You can simply listen to the players in the outer positions.

If you decide most of the outer positions are Good, the remaining few must be in the wolf pit.

Only four Werewolf Cards exist in a game.

That's why, in professional matches, some players are tossed into the wolf pit before they ever speak.

Still, that usually requires hearing at least a full round of speeches.

Only five people are on the podium; the relationships are relatively simple.

Good players under the sheriff are much harder to read.

"As I said, I really don't think Player 6 looks like a Wolf, but because Player 10's attitude toward her was ambiguous—and since she, from her seat, said Player 10 looked like a Good Guy, and Player 10 did indeed Forceful Jump against me—I'm putting Player 6 into my first badge flow to see whether the Wolves tried the 'four wolves naked-sit' gambit on day one."

"Also, Player 7 feels like a Wolf to me. Why? Simple: in his speech he said that if I jump Seer he would absolutely side with the other one…"

The Pointy-faced Man curled his lips in a cold chuckle.

"Hmph. May I ask how he and Player 11, who haven't even heard my speech, can reject me, Player 3 Seer, just by reading faces? I can't accept such a logic-free stance."

"So this round is interesting: probably three or four Wolves jumped on the podium to squeeze the living space of my True Seer. The Wolf Team is certainly bold. Since there are many Good Guys under the sheriff, I truly hope everyone can see clearly: I'm a lone, helpless Good Player Card, and the Wolf Team is trying to vote the True Seer out on day one!"

The Pointy-faced Man spoke almost the full 180 seconds, his tone earnest, his attitude serious.

That long barrage of words did make a few dazed Good Player Cards dizzy, and they began to wonder whether Player 3 could actually be the Seer.

Wang Changsheng, listening, secretly nodded.

The man's energy was high, his logic decent; he'd latched onto how quickly Players 10 and 11 had acknowledged each other and hammered the point.

He'd even dragged in his own Player 7 card, fashioning an image of isolation.

Such a speech might really pull a few Good votes from under the sheriff.

Add the two Wolf Cards under the sheriff, plus a Witch who might side with Player 3 because of Silver Water, and…

…the Pointy-faced Man might actually snatch the sheriff badge.

From a normal Witch's viewpoint, the first night usually brings a save.

Having saved someone, the Witch naturally feels goodwill toward that Silver Water.

And when a jumping Seer also gives that Silver Water a Golden Water, the Witch may well side with Player 3.

If the Witch tries to think about a Wolf self-slaughter, the Wolf must work on the podium—whether framing, charging, or rallying votes.

Otherwise why self-slash?

Or simply self-slash and jump.

Yet this self-slaughter Wolf, Player 1, stayed under the sheriff and did nothing before voting began.

Thus the Witch basically dismisses the idea of a self-slaughter.

The payoff is too low.

The Wolves might as well stab, in case they hit the Witch.

Of course, that's the normal Witch's perspective.

Another player as Witch might indeed be fooled and become a fifth Wolf.

But Wang Changsheng had drawn the Witch.

No matter how brilliantly Player 3 performed, it was only the last joy of a dead man.

With that, every player on the podium had spoken.

The players under the sheriff were pondering how to vote.

Spectators outside the field erupted at Player 3's jump.

"Damn, don't tell me the Witch poisons the Seer—what's the point? Is he nuts?"

"Don't jump to conclusions. Player 3's energy is high, but Player 10 looks more like the Seer to me. Player 3 calls Players 10 and Player 11 double Wolves—does Player 11 sound like a Wolf to you?"

"So what? Player 11 did acknowledge Player 10 awfully fast, as if they met at night. I think Player 3's point stands—if he really is the Seer, Good loses instantly!"

The audience argued fiercely.

Inside the Gun Shoots Like Dragon Team room, Chen Gang's expression was grim.

He was, after all, the Pointy-faced Man's coach.

He knew his player well.

The guy's energy was sky-high—

Either the Seer, cornered by Wolves, had to speak that way to turn the tide, or he was a Wolf Card Forceful Jump and had no choice… which sounded like saying nothing.

Yet it wasn't meaningless.

Based on years of knowing his player, Chen Gang suspected the Pointy-faced Man really was a Wolf.

And if he was… "Coach, could Brother Furious be Wolf Gun?" a teammate asked timidly.

At that, Chen Gang's face turned ashen.

After hearing the podium speeches, taking Furious as a baseline Wolf,

He hadn't spotted any other Wolves up there.

At most one—probably Player 6.

If many Wolves sat under the sheriff, their night tactic must have been to let Wolf Gun jump.

If the Wolf King imploded, they could Flip, leaving only Wolf Gun for the vote.

If he spoke well, they'd charge and try to seize the badge to push the Seer.

But all of that required Furious to stay alive.

"Damn that Witch… damn Hand Over Thoughts!"
