Chapter 44 - AN ALTERCATION IN THE DARK

As per the agreement that we had while still using our intermediate. I'd like for someone with any sorcery that changes appearance or invisibility is also an option. As long as I can't be identifiable by any body, that's fine." Said the man in white.

"As per our agreement I would three train tickets for the Aquatic blue, preferably by tomorrow. That's all." Akame answered.

"So can you deliver what I ask for?"

"I can, won't be too difficult, how about you?"

"Yeah, I already bought a ticket for myself anyway, although one by tomorrow could prove to be difficult. As you know, not just anyone can ride the Aquatic blue, if they could then the capital would have a lot more people." Answered the man.

"I understand it's a large ask, however, if its money you need I could provide it."

"No need, otherwise I'd feel like I'm ripping you off, what'll happen is I'll try and get them latest tomorrow morning. Think you can hold out until then?"

"Of course, that would be an undeniably insane feat, we can hold out."

The man in white held out his pinky, "So, do we have a deal?"

Akame held out his pinky, "Yeah."

BINDING, VOW & RESTRICTION

They interlocked fingers and finally the deal was complete.

"I'll contact you when the job's done."

 "Yes."

 **************************************************

"Get yer ass back here!!" Jericho wasn't the most athletic, in fact she'd most of the time skip her physical education classes just because, 'She didn't like getting all sweaty.' Her words not mine, however, in this particular instance it would seem that she didn't mind getting sweaty, either that or she assumed that no one could get sweaty at night.

 She clapped her hands together.

ORGANIC ALCHEMY: CARBON BASED RODS

As she separated her hands, pieces of her skin began tearing off as she transmuted her palm into a black rod made purely of carbon.

She then used it as a pole volt digging its furthest end into the tarmac and using her own momentum to propel herself further.

'She clasped her hands together?' Akame thought, 'She's got to be an alchemist, but she didn't draw a transmutation symbol, curious.' Akame had had his few run in's with alchemists back in the day, but even this was new to him.

 "I said stop!"

CRACK!

She landed with such force that she literally broke the tarmac beneath their feet.

"She's incredibly strong, guess I've got to get a bit serious."

Akame came to a screeching halt.

"Now that I've got your attention…" With precision she cut through the carbon rod shortening it to a manageable size.

"I need to question you about a few things, clear up a misunderstanding."

"What possible misunderstanding could have you following me around all day, I just got to this city." Akame shot back at her.

'Damn, he actually noticed?' She cleared her throat, "I can admit I had no right to tail you. I just had some suspicions and you running wasn't helping me get rid of them."

"I don't know what you were anticipating I'd do, when someone you don't know follows you, run or fight and I chose to run."

Jericho sighed, "No offense, but you're the only lead we have right now, as such I wish to ask a few questions here and there just to understand a few things here and there."

 "?"

"A few things like what the hell is someone like you doing all the way out here. I thought your people were just confined to the island."

Akame's eyes widened, but only for a split second as he realized what was going on. 'Initially I had thought this had something to do with the bounty on my head, professional hunter sorcerers maybe. But seeing as she's an alchemist she's probably from the Vatican, and its more than likely that she's from the recent generation thus she has no idea who I am or what I did. Which is a good thing.'

"Can't I at the very least walk around in another country for my own personal enjoyment."

"Mh?" Jericho chuckled under her breath as she rolled her eyes, "If you have that much money to waste here, then why not go somewhere nicer?"

"Well, were I spend my time is my business isn't it?"

"I just don't trust you enough to let you go yet." She spun the pole and leaned on it while still giving it back support with her hands.

"So what do you say me and you have a little night out?"

Akame scratched his head, fighting her would be a pain in the ass especially since all he wanted to do right now was sleep. And this cold wasn't helping him either.

 "Nah, I'm good."

Before Jericho could react his entire body began melting. Her instinct kicked in and she bolted trying to get a stab at him but the pole just went through him. "Damn it, Teddy pick up, pick up!"

 No response.

"The hell are you even doing on the other end?"

 Still no response.

 "Fuck!"

She ran her hand through her hair. "Shadow sorcery?" She whispered.

"Iman! Iman are you there?" Teddy shouted through the comms.

"Teddy! Good god, next time pick up when I call."

"Well, I'm calling coz he's back and things have began to escalate more than I thought it would." He answered.

"What do you mean he's back?"

"He's currently walking done the street right now."

 "Say you swear."

 "I'm serious."

"Did he use some kind of teleportation sorcery? Coz he melted and just dissolved into the ground, I assumed it was shadow sorcery but maybe its something a bit more."

 "Ok, he's entering the building."

"Hello Mr.Blake." The man at the counter called out to Akame. "I can see that you're back."

 "Yes, indeed, business is good."

"That's what we like to hear. There was someone looking for you though." He took out a note.

 "Was it the earlier group?"

"No, this was someone else. I refused to tell him where you were at so he just burged off into the hallways." Said the man at the desk.

"Well, did you call the room like I asked?"

"Yes, Gil answered and said he knew what to do."

 "Great, thanks."

 "No problem."

Akame began walking off, taking the elevator back to his room. Thoughts crossed his mind, thoughts that often came in form of plans and back up plans.

'This was insanely risky, maybe I should've just asked Blake to do it rather than asking a random guy.' His first instinct wasn't to do that. The reason for this was simple, over reliance of Blake would brew something much worse. It was better to only and I mean only call him if he couldn't figure out any other options.

 "Your back!" Catherine shouted.

"Yoo." Gil called, a towel to his face he was just getting out of the shower. "How was the meeting?'

"It went fine, we'll get tickets by morning. I'm more worried about something else." He took a peek out of the window. There are many vantage points outside, and he could sense the guy he had met with earlier was there.

"So, listen up you two." He commanded, "We only have one objective and that's make out of this city in one piece. As such I'm entrusting you two to protect each other until then."

The two looked at each other as Akame made his way to the door.

"Where are you going?" They asked in unison.

"I'm gonna go subvert expectation, remember protect each other 'till morning."

He slammed the door behind him.

The two just kept staring at the door as they heard the sound of his footsteps fading into the hallway.
