I released her once she found her balance. I continued up the stairs, expecting her to follow, but her footsteps never came.
I glanced back. She was still standing there, like she was debating whether to return downstairs.
"Your cousin will be leaving the country tomorrow."
That got her attention.
She followed immediately, stopping a few steps away from me in front of my bedroom door.
"Where are you taking her?" she asked.
Her blue eyes were still slightly unfocused from sleep, her hair messy around her shoulders, but there was nothing soft about the way she looked at me.
"She will be going to a boarding school away from here," I said evenly. " You don't have to worry about her."
Her jaw tightened.
"If Harry finds out about this…"
"He won't," I cut in. "I'm keeping an eye on him. He still thinks he will get you back but that will never happen." My voice lowered slightly.
"You just don't know what that man is capable of," she muttered, looking away from me.
