"Do you... Want ...
" Sleep Pur." I heard the deep voice cut in before I could finish the question we could both put meaning to.
On a normal day I would have quickly gone back to sleep and snored away. I knew I wasn't in the position to disobey them.
However, this was no normal day. This was the day I found the glitch in Don's cold facade.Dan liked to trace my eyes and read my expressions,to watch how I reacted to things. The odd ways he showed his own reactions in response to that always made her careful around him too. However she knew it was good she could read him even if it was so little it bare ly made a difference, she knew how to take cautions around Dan she liked to think she knew how to deal with him. However Don's facade had been an unhinged mask. He showed no reactions at all, what he did show interest in were the few things that concerned torturing or doing something to her. She had always wondered what she was going to do with herself should she ever anger him. How was she to deal with or try to escape or even calm down someone she knew nothing about.
So of course how could she let such a chance go. Leaning even closer she pecked his lips without his permission. A tricky move. Would he get angry? Will he drag her back in there?. She waited for a few seconds and he still did nothing. Tipping her head up, she looked at that eyes that stared into hers so intensely. She could feel how his fingers trembled against hers, and the bit of that glazed her palms, she couldn't believe it, the stone block Don could also feel like this.
She was right. He likes this. When she touched him without being forced to.
"Do not run away from me he had said on our first encounter.. " She should've interpreted it right. That would've saved her a lot of pain. But this was fine too...
"I want to touch you Don, can I?"
At her soft whisper, she sensed him stiffen some more...
"I won't run from you Don, I promise that, I'll stay with you, right by your side, me, you and Dan,... Let's be together forever.... okay?"
The lie slipped so effortlessly out her lips and she saw something shift in his eyes.
She watched nervously as his fingers moved to her face , holding in a forceful breath to not flinch, She's come too far to spoil this. She has to make them see, what they'd always subtly demanded of her. Y She had to make them see that she wanted them the same way they did her. She wanted to stay with them as much as they want her to.
Finally, his palms cupped her cheeks, his voice a whisper, a dangerously soft whisper...
" Do not lie to me Purple..."
" It's Lara.... And I won't lie to you, I will stay Don, if you love me right...I will stay."
At her carefully constructed sentence she saw his brows furrow. Yes so far as you don't hurt me I'll stay, I'll always be by your side, that's what she meant and that was the protection she seeked. However, did he even know what it was to love, what were their impression of the damned word. Not everyone in Kantama had the previledge to experience that feeling.
Did she ask for too much...
Her fingers went to caress his face and she looked in amazement as he leaned into them asking for more...'a little puppy.'
"It is okay you can... Want me better..."
Her intentions were clear, they were going to have to treat her better for the time she stayed here, while she bided her time and garnered their trust. They couldn't take her back to that room.
"Teach...teach me..."
She was more surprised at his words than the fact that he had unintentionally stammered while talking.
Yes she was more than shocked but she knew she had reply quickly before he changed his mind.
She kissed him this time, she made sure it wasn't just a soft pecking and when they stopped to take a breath, She looked into his blazing and glinting eyes and said
" I would love to teach you Don...."
She made a note to use their names, she noticed how he reacted to his name own her lips.
"Ahem ahem."
She turned to see Dan who leaned on the side of the wall conjoining the walk in closet and the bathroom, somehow he seemed to enjoy sleeping in weird colored night wears, how could someone so beautiful have such poor taste in clothing, surely they didn't lack the money to choose the right ones right?, His grin had returned in full bloom, she could tell, whatever was happening piqued his interest, because his grin this time was the second genuine one she had seen. She could tell, because his eyes smiled along too. "Teach me too."
She heard him say, his voice a pretentious whine.
And for the first time in what felt like forever she smiled, no it was a full on grin, not at their cuteness but at the heavy fact that she had finally gotten herself a head start, a free pass something to defend herself with, something she had total control of.
"I'll teach you too Dan,... Come here."
Patting the side of the bed, I smiled softly gesturing with a slight nod.
He likes it too, the spark in his eyes when she said his name told her as much.
She turned to see Don who was still watching her intensely.
"Lets have our first lesson."
She said out loud as she leaned in again and taking his lips silencing the huge sigh and groan that came along, she had no idea what she was doing and if he didn't take the lead she was hinting at, then she was going to be left being awkward and kiss- biting. Thankfully, moments later Dan moved from his staring position, gently, like a predator, getting into the bed as he slowly and carefully tagged her away from Don's arms.
"Did you not say you would teach me too? It's so unfair, paying so much attention to only one student hmm, what about me?"
"I thought you just liked to watch?" She couldn't stop the words that slipped out her lips, maybe she was still a little pissed that he had agreed to have her dragged into that room.
And surprisingly to her great relief, her witty retort had not been met with furrowing brows or a dampened mood.
Instead he laughed, Dan actually laughed a genuine one too... The sound ringing in her head. It was not at all the laughter she'd expect from such a vile person. It was soft and hearty and actually filled with joy. The kind of laugh that infects and without realizing , she returned a smile of her own too.
She shivered when his fingers traced her lips then.
"I like this... I like it when you smile like that."
His smile lingered as he traced her lips and maybe she was not at all pretending this time when she leaned into him, begging for a kiss.
Maybe she had not been pretending at all maybe she was genuinely fascinated by Don's cuteness and charmed by Dan's genuine smiles and grins, maybe she had not just groaned out loud for pretence when he took her lips, still smiling at her childish bickering. Maybe... maybe
But that was good too if she was going to get their trust it didn't matter how she did it or what it cost. In the end she only hoped to remember why she needed to gain their trust. Why she had to escape. Why they had made such crazy and heartwarming love tonight. Why she felt so different, so cherished so wanted and so.... Not like the invincible person she used to be back in their small leaky home on the begotten streets of Kantama.?
Why was she asking why again?
Maa, sister... Who were they again?
Why does the thought of them bother her so much?
