Chapter 13 - 13.Good Morning and Bad News

Lucian woke up to sunlight coming in through the window and Glacielle's warm weight still on his chest. He lay there for a while, thinking about how what happened last night was real and not just a very vivid dream.

His face turned red right away as memories came rushing back about last night, especially the nightgown made of silk. And still... the most exciting part is Glacielle's offer and what they had done together.

"Oh my god... Oh my FUCKING GOD!" He said to himself with a face that clearly showed the happiness of a virgin who finally lost it. "I fucking did it...!"

"I am no longer a virgin loser now! I'm getting blown by a woman for the first time!!!"

But we all know he was still a virgin in the traditional sense because they hadn't gone all the way, but this was the most intimate thing he had ever done in either of his lives. And it had been with a beautiful ice warrior who could kill dragons with folded fans.

"Aw, come on now! You can't just say that to me, narration."

His second life was crazy.

"Fair enough..."

Glacielle moved against him, and her blue eyes opened. A little smile crossed her lips when she saw him looking at her.

"Good... morning, Master," she said in a soft voice.

"MY GOD!!! "I'M REALLY LUCKY TO PULL THE CALMEST AND MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMEN, LIKE GLACIELLE!" Lucian screams in his mind.

"G-Good morning," Lucian said, but his voice sounded a little strained. "Did you sleep well?"

"Mmm... very well."

"Your presence is comforting." As she sat up slowly, the silk nightgown slipped down her shoulder, making Lucian's heart race again.

"Fuck...! I can see her boobies... and it felt like they have some kind of icy wind around them." Lucian said in his mind.

"We need to get ready for the day because we have a lot to do for today."

"O-Oh, yeah! That's right," Lucian remembers.

Lucian had to force himself to focus on the practical aspects of the guild of adventurers, rather than the beauty Glacielle radiated in the morning light. "We need to sign up and see what quests are out there."

Glacielle stood up and stretched, not caring at all how she looked. "I'll go back to my room to change into the right clothes."

"Should we have breakfast downstairs?"

"Yeah, that sounds good."

Lucian took a moment to calm down after she left. He needed to get his mind on the game.

Last night was excellent, but they had things to do. Dragons were still a problem in this area, and the mystery of who had destroyed that drake's nest was still unsolved.

He put on his clothes and strapped the Beginner's Longsword to his hip. The weapon felt natural now, as if it had always been there.

During the dragon fight, he had to work with Glacielle to learn the basics of swordplay. His body seemed to remember the moves.

...

The tavern was already busy serving breakfast downstairs. Lucian saw Glacielle sitting at a corner table in her casual summer dress.

There were two plates of food ready for her.

She said, "I already ordered for both of us," as he sat down.

"You need to eat well to stay strong after last night. I heard that kind of thing can drain your stamina and endurance..." Glacielle tilts her head to the side.

"Yeah..." Lucian nodded.

"And thanks for ordering this for me. They look delicious~!" Lucian was very excited to dig into the eggs and bacon.

After years of eating instant ramen, real food still felt like a treat.

Aldric came up to their table while they were eating breakfast and looked very serious. "Lucian, Glacielle," the chief of the village said, his usual cheerful tone replaced with worry.

"I hate to bother you again, but I have some bad news."

"What kind of bad news is it?" Lucian put down his fork and asked a question.

"A messenger came this morning from Riverhold, which is about a day's journey northeast of here."

"The dragons have attacked them, and it's a lot of fucking dragons." Aldric's face was serious. "Three settlements have been hit in the last week."

"People are dying, and the guards in the area can't deal with that many dragons like that!"

Lucian and Glacielle looked at each other. "That's not normal, is it?"

Glacielle said. "Dragons don't usually attack in groups."

Aldric said, "No, they don't."

"Drakes are territorial and solitary by nature. If there are many dragons in the same area at the same time, it means something is pushing them out of their natural homes... or someone is in charge of them," Glacielle said softly.

At that point, the table went quiet.

"Do you really think someone is controlling dragons to attack those towns?" Lucian asked.

"Maybe," Glacielle said. "I remember stories of Beast Tamers who could control monsters before the sealing..."

"If someone like that exists now, they might be to blame."

Aldric nodded slowly. "I had the same thought as well."

"The coordinated attacks and the destruction of the drake's nest all point to planned action instead of random monster behavior."

Lucian clenched his spoon while thinking that people were dying because someone was using dragons as weapons. The system had told him he would have to go through trials that would change the course of history.

This seemed like one of those tests.

He said firmly, "We'll look into it."

"If someone is behind these attacks, we'll put a stop to them."

It was clear that Aldric was happy hearing his answer. "I was hoping you'd say that."

"The adventurer's guild network has sent out an emergency quest from Riverhold. The prize is a whopping five thousand gold and an A-rank recommendation!"

Lucian nearly suffocated on his bacon. "Five thousand?!"

Aldric said, "Many quests about killing dragons always pay well."

"And with so many drakes involved, the risk is very high, making most of those pussy adventurers not go near it."

Lucian stood up and said, "Then it's settled."

"We'll go to Riverhold and find out what's going on."

"Thank you," Aldric said, and his eyes showed how thankful he was. "I'll get things ready for your trip."

"The road to the northeast can be dangerous even when dragons aren't attacking."

...

After breakfast, Lucian and Glacielle went to the building where the adventurer's guild is located. It was a small two-story building with the promised sword and shield symbol above the door.

Inside, they saw a man in his fifties with a gruff face sitting at a desk. His face and arms were covered in scars, which showed that he had been in many fights.

The man said right away, "You must be the dragon slayers."

"That son of a bitch Aldric told me you would be coming... The name's Marcus, by the way, the guild master for this branch."

"Lucian Luxfall," he said, introducing himself. "And this is Glacielle."

"We want to sign up as adventurers."

"Heck yeah, what are ya waiting for?" Marcus took out two papers. "Fill these out."

"Your name, class, specialties, and an emergency contact if you have one. It's all pretty standard."

Lucian saw a part of the paperwork that asked for his class as he filled it out. He thought about it for a second and then wrote "Gacha Master" because it was technically correct, even though it sounded silly.

When Marcus looked over the forms, he raised an eyebrow. "Huh... Gacha Master?"

"That's a first here."

"Well... it's complicated," Lucian said. "I call on warriors to fight with me."

"And this sexy woman is one of your summons?" Marcus looked at Glacielle with professional interest. "She has to be high-tier. I can feel the power coming off of her."

"Don't you fucking dare call her sexy." Lucian tapped the table hard, making Marcus flinch for a second.

"Jeez, sorry, kid. It's the truth anyway."

"Say that again and I'll---"

"Alright, alright! I'm just joking with ya!"

"I'm an SSS-rank warrior," Glacielle said.

Marcus let out a low whistle. "SSS-rank summon right away."

"You really are a talented kid." He put an official seal on both forms. "You're now F-rank adventurers."

"You usually have to do low-level quests to get to D-rank, but since you beat a Crimson Drake by yourself, I'm moving you up to D-rank right away."

He made two metal plates with their names and ranks on them. "Don't lose these."

"They're your ID and proof that you're a member of the guild."

"Thanks," Lucian said, putting his plate in his pocket. "We're really here for the Riverhold quest."

Marcus's face got serious. "At the very least, that's a B-rank quest."

"Given the situation, it's probably an A-rank quest."

"Are you sure you want to do that as new adventurers?"

Lucian said, "We killed one dragon yesterday and we probably can take on more."

"That's fair." Marcus took out a quest scroll and gave it to him. "Official agreement.

"The usual rules apply. Get rid of the dragon threat in Riverhold and look into why the attacks happened."

"The reward is 5,000 gold and the A-rank recommendation I talked about."

"Alright!" Lucian took the scroll. "We'll go do it today."

"Good luck," Marcus said. "And be careful..."

"Something about this whole bullshit thing doesn't smell right."
