I was in my room studying old texts when I heard the alarm bell ring. Three sharp rings, which meant an emergency. All pack members were supposed to gather immediately.
I grabbed my jacket and ran outside. Pack members were already gathering in the main courtyard, looking confused and worried. I pushed through the crowd, trying to figure out what was happening.
"Make way," someone shouted. "The Alpha is coming."
I turned and saw Urdon walking across the grounds. He was shirtless, and his face was set in hard lines. Behind him, several guards were dragging Rex in silver chains.
My heart dropped. They had caught Rex. Something must have happened. Something bad.
I ran toward them and saw Freda standing near the gates with the healer. Her knee was bandaged, and she looked terrified. When she saw Rex, she moved behind the healer like she was trying to hide.
"What happened?" I asked one of the guards.
