Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

His introduction complete, Rin Kuga moved with a detached, singular focus. He didn't wait for the instructor to assign a desk or offer guidance. Instead, he navigated the aisles with the air of someone who already owned the room, heading straight for a vacant seat in the back as if it had been reserved for him by fate itself.

He casually hooked his bag to the side of the desk and slid into the chair. By sheer coincidence—he had chosen the seat directly in front of Utaha Kasumigaoka.

Rin caught a glimpse of her as he sat: the impeccable porcelain skin, the elegant curve of her features, and that unmistakable, statuesque silhouette. In any other reality, she would be a singular beauty, but here at Shuchiin Academy, the extraordinary was almost commonplace. This school was a focal point, a localized nexus where the "lead characters" of his previous world's fictions had all converged into a living, breathing society.

As he settled in, a low hum of gossip rippled through the surrounding desks. Even among the daughters of Japan's elite, Rin's arrival was a seismic event. His sheer presence and aura acted like a magnet for their attention.

Directly behind him, Utaha's reaction was far more complex. She wasn't captivated by his aesthetics like the others; she was hunting for a shadow. The resonance of his voice and the set of his shoulders were too familiar to ignore.

"Hmph. 'Not interested in chubby girls,' yet he chooses to sit right in front of me," Utaha murmured, her voice a ghost of a sound meant only for her own ears.

A flash of self-satisfied triumph flickered in her eyes. She was certain that despite his insults from the previous night, he had been lured in by her undeniable presence. After all, her allure was a force of nature—it was impossible to resist. However, she maintained her icy composure. She needed more than just a hunch; she needed to confirm that this dismissive transfer student was indeed the sovereign who had saved her in that dark alley.

In reality, Rin's choice was far more pragmatic. In his old life, there was a running joke that the seat by the window in the back corner was the exclusive domain of the "Protagonist." As the wielder of the Ohma Zi-O power, he felt it was only fitting that he occupy the seat reserved for the center of the universe.

The chime of the school bell eventually signaled the end of the period. Rin leaned back, intending to catch up on the sleep he'd lost yesterday. He had no genuine interest in the curriculum; school was merely a convenient vantage point for his true work.

But just as he prepared to drift off, a familiar, sharp voice—cool and draped in a light frost—vibrated from behind him.

"Kuga-kun, could I have a moment of your time?"

Rin shifted slightly in his seat. Turning halfway, his gaze met Utaha's. She was standing over him, her expression a mask of practiced indifference that didn't quite reach her sharp, searching eyes.

So, she's already making her move.

He knew she suspected him, but he had no intention of handing over the secret of his Henshin so easily. He adjusted his expression into one of mild, polite confusion.

"Is there something I can help you with, Kasumigaoka-san?" he asked, his voice smooth and neutral.

Utaha's brow furrowed almost imperceptibly. The gall of this man, still playing the stranger.

"I have a few things I'd like to discuss with you," she said, her tone professional yet layered with a hidden edge. "Would you mind coming with me?"

Rin gave a slow, deliberate nod. "Lead the way." He needed to know exactly how much she had pieced together.

As they exited the room together, a collective wail rose from the rest of the female students.

"No way! That girl got to him first!?"

"My prince is being led away by the Ice Queen! This is a national tragedy!"

"My youth is over... it's officially over..."

Rin ignored the chorus of heartbreak. He followed Utaha into the hallway, his footsteps silent, the weight of the golden belt still a phantom sensation at his waist, waiting for the next ripple in time.
