Chapter 35 - THE FALLEN

The sky is still split.

A violet scar hangs above the colony like a wound that refuses to close. Rain falls through it in uneven streaks, bending as it nears the battlefield.

Below, the ground is no longer a city. It is a grave of shattered concrete and twisted steel.

At its center—

Two figures stand.

Satoru Gojo and Izana Kurokawa.

Neither moves.

But the air between them is screaming.

Then—

They vanish.

The collision happens somewhere above sight, but the result reaches the ground instantly. A circular shockwave crushes everything outward, carving a perfect ring into the ruins. The rain is blown away entirely, leaving a hollow silence.

They reappear midair.

Izana drives his fist forward, gravity folding into a blade that bends light itself. Gojo doesn't dodge. The strike stops inches from his face, caught in the infinite divide of space.

Infinity hums.

Gojo tilts his head slightly. "Still not enough."

He flicks two fingers.

Blue ignites.

The world pulls inward. Rubble, air, even fragments of broken glass spiral toward a singularity forming in his palm. Izana responds instantly—gravity crashes downward, crushing the pull, reversing it, turning the attraction into a violent implosion.

The sky tears again as both forces collide.

They move faster.

Faster than impact.

Faster than destruction.

Every exchange redraws the battlefield—buildings collapse, ground caves, the barrier above flickers like it's struggling to contain them.

Izana pivots midair, layering pressure into a descending strike. This time, the blow lands.

The ground beneath Gojo explodes into a crater kilometers wide.

Smoke erupts.

For a moment—

Nothing.

Then the smoke parts.

Gojo stands at the center, untouched.

Rain bends away from him, curving like it recognizes something untouchable.

Izana lands across from him, breathing heavier now, blood running down his arm.

For the first time—

Gojo's expression changes.

He steps forward.

Not casual anymore.

Not playful.

Something deeper.

Something heavier.

"You know," Gojo says quietly, "you've been busy."

Izana says nothing.

Gojo's eyes sharpen.

"All the fallen… the two pillars…"

The air tightens.

"…they left their mark on you."

Silence.

Not loud.

Not explosive.

But absolute.

For a brief moment, something flickers across Izana's face—not fear, not anger—

Recognition.

Gojo raises his hand.

Red forms in one palm.

Blue in the other.

They spiral.

Merge.

"Hollow—"

Izana moves first.

Gravity condenses instantly around Gojo, compressing space inward with overwhelming force. The technique detonates before it fully forms, sending both of them crashing back through the sky.

They collide again.

And again.

Each impact more violent than the last.

Below—

Ren watches.

Barely conscious.

Barely breathing.

But his eyes—

They're open.

Gojo's words echo in his mind.

The fallen… left their mark…

All Might.

His father.

Yuki.

Every one of them—

Gone.

Because he was too weak.

Ren's fingers dig into the broken ground.

"No…" he whispers.

His body trembles as he forces himself up.

Cursed energy leaks wildly, unstable, chaotic—but different from before.

Not rage.

Not blind anger.

Something sharper.

Something focused.

"I'm not…" Ren breathes, staggering forward, "…losing anyone else."

Above, Izana slams Gojo through a collapsing structure, following with a gravitational crush that folds the entire area inward like a collapsing star.

The ground caves.

The air screams.

And then—

A figure bursts through the destruction.

Ren.

He appears between them, intercepting the pressure with everything he has. The force tears at his body, but he holds.

For a second—

Just one—

The attack stops.

Gojo's eyes widen slightly.

Izana's gaze sharpens.

Ren stands there, shaking, bleeding, but unmoving.

"I'm done watching," he says.

His voice isn't loud.

But it cuts through everything.

"I won't let my teachers die again."

Silence falls.

The rain resumes.

Three figures now stand in the battlefield.

The strongest.

The king.

And the one who refuses to fall.

Gojo glances at Ren—just for a moment—a faint smile returning.

"Now that's more like it."

Across from them, Izana lowers his stance slightly.

Interested.

For the first time—

This is no longer a fight.

It's a war.
