Chapter 33 - THE RETURN

Rain falls over a ruined colony.

Ren is barely standing. His body is splitting at the seams, cursed energy leaking like smoke from cracked porcelain. Blood drips from his chin. His vision swims.

Izana stands before him, coat torn, one sleeve empty, expression calm again.

"You've grown," Izana says quietly. "But this is rage. Not evolution."

Ren tries to lift his arm. It trembles.

Izana raises his palm.

Gravity begins folding inward around Ren's chest — the same silent compression that erased Yuki.

Ren's vision fractures.

Gojo smiling in sunlight. You're strong, Ren.

His father in the rain. Protect them.

The pressure tightens.

"Goodbye, Ren."

And then—

A sound.

High. Sharp. Cutting through reality itself.

A beam of blinding white laced with deep violet tears across the battlefield.

It does not explode.

It erases.

The hollow beam slams into Izana's side and detonates across the colony in a newborn starburst.

The ground vaporizes in a perfect line stretching beyond the barrier. The rain evaporates midair.

Izana is caught off guard — for the first time — and launched through buildings before crashing into distant rubble.

Silence.

Steam rises from molten concrete.

Ren collapses to one knee, barely conscious.

Through the smoke—

Footsteps.

Slow. Even. Unhurried.

The suffocating weight Izana created disappears completely.

The rain begins to fall normally again.

A silhouette forms.

Tall. Straight posture. Hands in pockets.

The smoke parts.

Standing untouched amid devastation is SatoruGojo.

His uniform is slightly torn. The blindfold dampened by rain. Yet the space around him bends gently, as if the world itself refuses to touch him.

Izana rises from rubble, blood trailing down his face, eyes narrowed.

"…Impossible."

Gojo looks at Ren first.

Not the destruction.

Not Izana.

Ren.

And he smiles softly.

"Man," he says casually, voice warm and familiar, "I leave you alone for a bit and you almost die?"

Ren's lips tremble.

"…Sensei…?"

Gojo adjusts his blindfold slightly, revealing one shining blue eye beneath the rain.

Cold.

Limitless.

He turns toward Izana.

Space stretches infinitely between them.

"Oh," Gojo says lightly, "so you're the one making my student cry."

The atmosphere freezes.

Even the rain hesitates.

Izana wipes the blood from his face, a slow smile forming despite the injury.

"So the strongest has returned."

Gojo tilts his head slightly.

"You started a war without inviting me? That's rude."

Cursed energy begins to hum around him — not explosive, not chaotic — but endless. Controlled.

Absolute.

Ren watches through fading consciousness as two titans face each other beneath a broken sky.

Izana straightens.

Gojo lowers his hand.

The barrier pulses violently as if reacting to their presence.

Gojo standing between Ren and Izana, rain falling in slow motion, blue eyes glowing through the storm.
