Chapter 67 - Lilian's Great-Grandmother

"You still working at your dad's store?" Lilian asked, trying to ease the tension.

"Yeah," Daniel answered, though his attention still partly on Dante. "I took over last year when Dad retired. It's not exciting, but it's home, you know?"

"I do," Lilian said softly. "Home matters."

"Speaking of which," Daniel continued, "there's a town gathering this Saturday. Welcome home party for you, sort of. Linda organized it, of course. Your mom said you'd be there. Will you?"

A town gathering, where everyone would want to meet the princes, and they would be able to ask questions directly. Actually, that was the kind of exposure they should avoid.

But refusing would seem strange and totally not be appropriate. Lilian Carter coming home after years away, married to a wealthy stranger, and not attending a party that was deliberately made in her honor?

That would generate even more gossip and suspicion.

"We'll be there," Dante said before Lilian could answer. "What time?"
