Chapter 51 - The Fallen Angels Were Already Waiting

The first weekend after the Rating Game between Rias and Riser ended, Hiro accompanied Asia to a dilapidated church in the suburbs of Saitama Prefecture.

"Thank you, Hiro-kun. If I'd come alone, I definitely wouldn't have been able to find this place."

Standing before the church's broken entrance, Asia looked at Hiro beside her and thanked him softly.

"If you could've found this place by yourself," Hiro replied, "that would've been a problem."

His gaze flicked to the lead-gray "2" and the three "1"s marked on the system map. A faint confusion rose in his mind.

They hadn't even contacted Asia yet. So why were these fallen angels already here? Where did they get her information?

Or were they acting under Kokabiel's orders, deliberately stirring trouble?

If the fallen angels were already moving, then the Church's artificial warrior, Freed Sellzen, and Kiba Yuuto's enemy, Valper, should also be somewhere in Saitama Prefecture.

Which meant the plot had already stepped into the "Holy Sword Retrieval Arc."

The first real boss was coming.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Asia asked, confused beneath her black nun's habit.

"It means there are enemies here."

Hiro gently ruffled her head with his right hand, chuckled, then stepped past her and entered the doorless church first.

"Enemies?!"

Asia gasped softly behind him.

There was nervousness on her face, but she still followed closely.

The instant Hiro entered the main hall, it felt as though he'd passed through an invisible membrane.

On the system map, the numbers reacted and began moving slowly toward their position.

"Hiro-kun... what was that just now?"

"A sensing barrier. We just need to wait here a few seconds. That group-or that fallen angel-will come out."

He stopped, placing himself in front of Asia, shielding her as he calmly looked toward the statue of Mary dozens of meters away.

Directly beneath the Virgin Mary was a staircase leading down to the basement.

Whether the basement existed originally or had been built by the fallen angels after arriving didn't matter.

It was their nest now.

Rumble. Rumble. Rumble.

After a few seconds, accompanied by dull rumbling sounds, several disheveled men and women appeared before them.

"A nun and... a human?" The blonde twin-tailed loli stared at them, doubt clear in her voice.

"Probably bored humans here to worship," the buxom, serious-looking woman beside her said impatiently. "Let's deal with them quickly and get back to our fun."

She stepped forward.

"Wait."

Her movement was halted as a long-black-haired fallen angel raised a hand.

"Raynare, is that...?"

"Asia Argento?!"

Raynare ignored the others completely.

Her gaze locked onto Asia, who had peeked halfway out from behind Hiro. Unrestrained joy spread across her face.

"No wonder I couldn't find your church in Britain. You abandoned the Church that raised you and ran to Saitama Prefecture in Country R-devil territory. Did you elope with this man?"

She sneered.

"The Church was right to call you a witch."

Hiro scanned the one man and three women before him, all dressed like they'd come straight from "after the fact," and frowned.

A race that fell to desire, huh.

They claimed devotion to Azazel, yet here they were fooling around with their own subordinates. Or comrades.

"Asia, hand over your Sacred Gear to me! Let me become-"

Hiro didn't give Raynare the chance to finish.

His brown pupils spun, instantly transforming into the four-pointed pinwheel of the Mangekyou Sharingan.

The moment the four fallen angels met his gaze, their resistance vanished.

They froze, eyes dull, bodies reduced to obedient puppets.

Hiro closed his Mangekyou, turned to Asia, and spoke softly.

"Asia, what comes next might get bloody. Can you go outside and wait for me a few minutes?"

Asia didn't know who these people were, nor that they were fallen angels. Their wings were still hidden.

But the undisguised malice-and the words about seizing her Sacred Gear-had erased any remaining sympathy.

She was kind. Her Sacred Gear was Twilight Healing.

But she was no saint.

"Mmm."

She nodded lightly, turned, and left the church in just a few steps.

If he were only killing Raynare and the others, it would take seconds.

Even cleaning up afterward wouldn't take long.

But Raynare had something Hiro wanted.

Knowledge.

Before killing her, he needed time to extract it.

"Then, next."

He walked closer to Raynare and issued a cold command.

"Tell me the method for stripping a Sacred Gear."

"It requires a cross large enough to hang the Sacred Gear user. Removing the user's clothes during the process increases the success rate..."

So that's how it worked.

The novels kept this intact, while the anime version had censored it.

The thought crossed Hiro's mind as he listened.

A little over a minute passed.

After getting what he needed, Hiro summoned Dead March.

Amid the shocked, confused, resentful expressions of the three women and one man, he casually converted them into Dead March puppets.

They were weak. And they were inferior goods.

But they'd fill slots for now.

Once better puppets appeared, he could discard them without loss-to himself or to Dead March: Yatsufusa.

As for Raynare and the three women...

Even as disposable weapons, DIO wouldn't have the heart to use them.

"Ding! Second-Tier luck seizure complete. Congratulations to the host for obtaining: Phoenix Tears ×3."

"...Elementary Observation Haki."

"...Panties of Natsuki Minamiya (True Form)."

"...Ram's Horn."

Huh?

Elementary Observation Haki?

First-Tier luck gave me a reconnaissance skill I desperately needed.

And now this.

Panties. And a horn.

Are you kidding me?

Hiro stared at the three droplets, the circular symbol, the panties, and the small horn in his item bar.

His eyelids twitched violently.
