(ARC 2 PH 2 Questioner)
2:17 AM.
A small curve flickered on Adrian's screen.It wasn't just a normal graph
fluctuation It felt like something breathing. It rose It vanished.Adrian leaned forward slowly in his chair.
"This is live…" he whispered.
same wave signature again inside the college sector network.exact pattern Leon had shown him six months ago.
Same interval,Same distortion,Same silence.Adrian's heartbeat gradually accelerated. This was no longer data
It was an invitation.
He typed rapidly real-time stream opened. Building sensor logs, traffic camera feeds, Wi-Fi ping maps everything layered together.small blind spot appeared on the map narrow road under a single streetlight.Behind the college.
"What are you hiding there?" he muttered.grabbed his phone and called the security desk.
"Any network lag in Sector C-4?" he asked calmly.
voice on the other end sounded normal. "No sir. Everything is normal."
Adrian went still on the screen, the anomaly pulsed again. Not normal,It had never been normal.closed the laptop picked up his jacket. Paused for a moment.
"Leon… I'm stepping out tonight," he said softly.
city wasn't asleep....,
roads weren't wet, yet the streetlights reflected off them like faint glass. a cool wind moved through the empty streets. Distant taxi engines hummed occasionally.started his car, laptop glowed again on the dashboard. Live stream active, blind spot hadn't moved,
It was waiting.
"This isn't random," he thought. "Someone is controlling this."
reached the road behind the college. It was empty.old wall, a closed café, one streetlight.stepped out of the car silence. He checked his signal full bars.
But the data stream froze for a second.
he looked up nothing back to the phone.
"Sync loss reconnecting."
His fingers felt cold he took one step forward. The streetlight flickered once
stabilized.
"This isn't electrical,"
He walked to the center of the road and opened the map again. A red dot showed his location right beside it dark circle.region without data....
"That shouldn't be physical," he thought. "Data doesn't have walls."
stepped into the dark circle,Instantly
phone screen filled with static.faint ringing in his ears.air felt heavier he stepped back screen normal.Forward,
static,back normal.
Adrian's eyes darkened,
"It's a field…" he whispered. "An invisible layer."heart pounded.
Leon's words echoed in his memory.
"What if someone can edit the city?"
stepped fully inside the circle again.
this time the silence deepened the wind faded.the distant traffic noise dimmed.
slowly extended his hand into the air.
nothing visible but resistance subtle.
Like pressure suddenly,,graffiti on the wall ahead blurred for split second.
then reappeared he blinked It looked normal again. But he had seen it shift.
"You're observing…" he murmured.
"Sir?" voice behind, he turned sharply.
A night guard.
"Is something wrong?" the guard asked.
"Did the lights flicker just now?"
guard smiled casually,
"No sir. everything is normal."
word again normal he looked into guard's eyes.no confusion,no awareness.as if nothing had happened
he nodded.
"It's nothing,",,, guard walked away.
turned back to the dark circle.now there was nothing unusual.the laptop showed a normal map he walked back to his car.But one thought refused to leave.this wasn't just an anomaly It was a reaction.the moment he stepped inside, the field activated.
glanced back once more the streetlight flickered again.this time twice cold current ran through him.
"Leon… this is what you saw,"
He got into the car and started the engine.before driving away, he checked the live stream one last time.new line appeared on the screen.
"Unauthorized entry recorded."breath stopped he slammed the brake.
"Recorded by who?"he was the unauthorized entry but someone had logged it.
Time stamp: 2:29 AM,
Below it an unfamiliar signature. It resembled Leon's coding style but not exactly.
"You weren't alone…"
phone vibrated unknown number he answered.Silence no breathing Then a voice, low, steady.
"Entering the field for the first time is dangerous."
"Who is this?" he demanded, few seconds of silence.
"You're late." call ended.no call log as if it never happened.he let out a quiet laugh not amusement, not fear.Recognition now it was clear Leon's disappearance wasn't a decision.
It was a consequence, he pressed the accelerator.
"If you're watching me," he thought, "I'll start watching back."
skyline stretched ahead night remained quiet. But now It wasn't natural silence.
It was maintained silence as Adrian drove home, there was no fear in his eyes.Only resolve he was no longer the man behind the screen.he had stepped into the field. And someone had recorded him which meant he would no longer chase data alone.he would chase presence.
