Anie reached home that night with Eli beside her.They didn't talk words for both of them were still dangerous.
At the gate,he stopped.
"Tomorrow," he said,
"don't walk alone."
She nodded, "Will you come?"
he looked at her,for a moment.
"As long as you can see me,"
he said,
"I'll be there."
She didn't reply.But the words
stayed inside her.
[Morning.]
The alarm rang,School uniform,Mirror.
Anie looked at herself,Same face.
But her eyes,now they held too many
questions.
"Am I still me?"....
Today,the school felt different.More cameras,More security.Drones circled
above.
"What's this?"Mira asked.
"Routine system check,"a teacher said.
Anie didn't believe it.she saw him,Last bench,Calm.For a second,he looked at her.
It wasn't a question....,It was a signal.
During class
Mira's pen fell to the floor,she bent down.But didn't get up.
"Mira?" Anie called.
Mira was still holding the pen.Her eyes were open.But she wasn't here.
For a moment,sounds lost their meaning.
Anie stood up....
"Teacher!!!"...

Mira suddenly gasped for breath.

I saw another school,"she said.
The class laughed...
"Stop daydreaming,"someone said.
But Eli,, he didn't laugh.He looked at Anie.

The campus was filled with noise.But
for Anie and Eli,the sounds fell behind.
"She's starting to see,"Anie said.
"Yes,"Eli replied.

"Is she like us?"

Anie looked at Mira,She was laughing.
Unaware.
After school,On the way home.The city looked brighter after the rain.
She walked alone.She didn't realize it
but she wasn't alone.Footsteps,behind her.She turned,No one,again footsteps.
The shadow on the wall didn't match
her movements.Anie's breath caught.
Her phone vibrated.
Unknown Contact:!Don't run!
She stopped.
The shadow solidified in front of her.
Human But the face wrong.
"Can you see me?"he asked.
Anie tried to speak,no words came.
He smiled.....,,
"Then you're still invisible."
His hand moved toward her,
"Step back."!!!!

He stood in front of Anie.The shadow paused.
"You're with her?"it asked.
"Yes,"Eli said.
"From now on."
The shadow laughed.
"Then the city will mark both of you."
He vanished.
Anie was shaking.Eli held her hand.
"I'll stay till you reach home."
Anie didn't let go.
"Eli…"..
"Hm?"..
"Will everything go wrong?"
Eli thought for a moment.
"Yes,"he said.
Anie swallowed.
"But,"he added,"we won't be alone."
For the first time,she believed it.
