Chapter 17 - Chapter 17:The weight of tomorrow

Two Heartbeats Instead of One

..

The confirmation came quietly.

Nina lay on the medical platform, arms folded behind her head, expression calm but her tail betrayed her, twitching with restless energy.

The Saiyan scientist older, sharp-eyed, one of the few who had survived everything stared at the readouts longer than necessary.

"…This is unusual," she finally said.

Broko looked up instantly. "Explain."

The scientist swallowed, then straightened.

"It's not one child," she said. "It's two."

Silence.

Nina blinked. "Two?"

The scientist nodded. "Twin males. Both viable. Both… exceptionally active."

She hesitated, then added carefully, "Their energy signatures are already stabilizing independently."

Broko's eyes narrowed not in fear, but in calculation.

Saiyan twins were rare.

Saiyan twins with independent ki cores were almost unheard of.

Nina laughed suddenly a sharp, delighted sound. "Of course it's two."

She looked at Broko, eyes bright.

"You always did overcommit with that meat stick of yours" she said shamelessly.

For once, Broko didn't reply immediately.

He placed a hand over Nina's abdomen, feeling the faintest pressure of ki two pulses, synchronized but distinct.

The universe never gives lightly, he thought.

It collects interest later.

The Day the Island Held Its Breath

The birth did not just shake the island.

It shook everything else.

Even with suppressors layered over the medical wing, the moment the twins drew breath

Reality bent.

Two infant cries tore through the air like shockwaves.

Alarms screamed and died instantly.

Gravity fluctuated.

Every Saiyan on the island dropped to one knee instinctively young and old alike .

Power Levels at Birth:

Infant bala: ~1,000,000

Infant tehm : ~1,000,000

Not flaring.

Not unstable.

Calm.

Controlled.

Broko stood frozen as the scientist placed the children in Nina's arms.

Two boys.

Dark hair already thick.

Tails coiled tightly.

Eyes sharp and alert too alert.

They didn't scream for long .

They watched like little beast .

Nina exhaled slowly, exhausted and then something snapped into place inside her as the father of her children healed her using his magic.

Pain vanished.

Her ki surged violently, then condensed.

A Zenaki boost, unlike any she'd ever experienced.

Not born of near-death.

Born of creation.

Nina (post-birth): ~300,000,000+

Close enough to Broko now that the difference was no longer large .

She felt it immediately.

"So that's new," she muttered.

Broko laughed.

Actually laughed happily.

...

A Celebration Without Noise

There was no roaring feast.

No reckless sparring.

Just a gathering.

young warriors born before arriving in this, engineers, scientists stood together in the great chamber, heads bowed, tails wrapped respectfully.

This was not conquest.

This was continuation.

The twins slept peacefully, their auras suppressed instinctively as if they already understood restraint.

Broko looked at his people.

"At no point," he said quietly, "has survival ever been guaranteed."

He looked down at his sons.

"Now it matters that we make it so."

The faction answered with a single gesture, fists to chests.

"Now let's feast" Nina said

.....

Six Months Later:

The Mistake

The twins were six months old when the island made its first error.

They were teething.

Hungry.

Angry.

And very, very loud.

The tantrum lasted 30 seconds .

That was enough.

A pulse escaped suppression brief, unfocused, but colossal.

....

Curious Eyes Turn Toward the Island

First Response: Drones

Unmarked aerial drones swept the region within hours.

They never returned to their senders .

Second were the satellites

High-orbit sensors tried next.

Readings scrambled.

Visuals blurred.

Something down there was actively interfering.

That was when interest turned into concern as governments grew more observant .

.....

The Watchers

Lex Luthor

He saw opportunity.

A power source.

A weapon.

A bargaining chip.

Amanda Waller / A.R.G.U.S.

She saw a threat that did not ask permission to exist.

Black Ops and Alien Tech Divisions

They deployed recovered alien sensors, quantum entanglement probes, magic-tech hybrids.

And finally

They confirmed it.

Not a reactor.

Not a meta-human.

An entire unknown hidden faction.

Broko felt it the moment the scans sharpened.

Hands brushing the edge of his new domain.

He stood on the island's highest point, arms folded, eyes on the sky.

"They're learning," he said.

Nina joined him, one twin asleep against her shoulder, the other gnawing on her finger.

"Let them," she replied.

"Hm OK, now let me hold my sleeping little boy"

As Nina handed one child over to his father..

...

The First Contact

The U.S. government came cautiously at first .

A covert delegation.

No uniforms.

No threats.

Broko declined their questions, Firmly he wasn't interested in any greedy weaklings trying to control his people.

Lex Luthor came next.

Smiling fake and his overconfidence flowing like mist .

Measured.

"You're sitting on a resource," Lex said. "I can make you untouchable."

Broko stared at him.

"I already am and you can't do shit for me rich boy."

Lex left intrigued, not offended.

Yet.

...

Elsewhere

.....

Far Away:

Frieza stood on a dead world once ruled by Broko.

Abandoned.

Stripped and Empty.

His scientists worked tirelessly, mapping faint scars in reality itself.

"Inter-dimensional residue confirmed as you suspected my lord ," one reported after two years. "Single-vector transition possible. Limited. High risk."

Frieza smiled darkly.

"Prepare the fleet, it's to catch a monkey by his tail ," he said softly.

....

Two Years Later

Broko felt it before it happened.

A distortion.

Familiar but Wrong.

Far beyond Earth space near Jupiter's moons space folded.

Frieza arrived.

Entire fleet behind him.

Broko exhaled slowly.

I'm not ready, he admitted to himself.

Not yet.

He hadn't mastered Super Saiyan.

Not fully.

Not safely.

But he had something else now.

Time.

Family.

And enemies who still underestimated him.

Broko turned back toward the island.

When he arrived he spoke..

"Begin evacuation protocols," he ordered calmly.

"Phase two."

The twins laughed in their sleep not aware of the threat ahead.

The war had found them anyway.
