Still walking and shooting in their diamond like formation. Vincent shot with his pistol as he still had his shotgun.
*BANG*BANG*BANG*
"Keep firing!"
The captain yelled out as he shot his rifle with all intent to use every last mag, every last bullet. Soldiers yelled a war cry as they huddled close. Only for a giant looking Xeno to land close to them.
"Fuck!"
"Shoot!"
Some fired at the giant Xenos with four arms as he had two swords in 2 hands. Some grazed it's skin which was tough.
"I got it!"
A soldier yelled as he had a flamethrower and shot fire from the barrel. The Xenos sliced the fire and him in half, along side another soldier. Vincent holstered is pistol and pulled his shotgun as he broke formation and blasted it in the chest. It roared in pain and tried to slice Vincent.
"For the emperor!"
A soldier had a grenade already unclipped and sacrificed himself to blow the Xeno up.
"Run guys!"
They saw what he was about to do many had grave expressions. The captain understood to well, his soldiers, his men would lay down their life. They broke formation and ran back as the explosion kicked off.
Killing the big Xeno, the remaining were picking off the other smaller Xenos. Though the numbers were flooding like crazy.
"On your right!"
A soldier warned to his comrade only for him to be flanked by 2 Xeno and teared apart. Even breaking the formation drew a setback.
"Die! Die! Die!"
Some raged and kept firing, but one soldier fired only for no bullet to be shot out.
"I'm out!"
"I'm also out!"
The captain clicked his tongue frustrated, because he sent already a signal for backup to the city. They received it only problem was it was going to take some time. They weren't like other planets were more warriors of the imperium like the space marines were more in numbers.
Spaceships they didn't have so all they can do is come in ground vehicles. Vincent grabbed a grenade and threw into the crowd of Xenos. Blowing some up and the soldiers did so too. There ammo was slowly coming to nothing.
Slowly they were 5 feet away. Only for the unexpected to happen. More of those acid spitters appeared and instantly almost all theirs numbers crumbled. Vincent gritted his teeth, he ignored the numbing pain of his arm. The torniquet was doing it's job.
They screeched knowing their win was near. Soon they walked down the stairs to the bunker and only Vincent, the captain and 2 more soldiers remained. The uncertainty of living was even more apparent on each of their faces.
"No!"
One screamed when his head was loped off his neck. His brother seeing this angrily shot back only for him for his gun to jam.
"Aaaah!"
He pulled out a knife just for him to be sliced vertically. The captain paled but now they were at the door as he saw his soldiers bodies falling limply on the stairs.
"Get in!"
The captain yelled only for some acid to be shot at his chest, the captain yelled in pain.
"Fuck!"
He saw two Xenos appeared, Vincent pulled his shotgun and shot one. But another one was to quick dodging his shots. A bit more faster and bigger than the smaller one's. Vincent eyes widened as he couldn't get a good shot in.
*Swoosh*
His eyes widened as he felt a flood of pain in his abdomen. He was pierced by the Xeno by it's tail.
"Argh!"
He coughed massive pools of blood. It screeched close to his face, as Vincent paled feeling like he was close to death.
*Thud*
Throwing him away with the tail, Vincent hit the ground hard but not he was at the door of the bunker. The captain coughed blood, as he knew that he should at least do something.
he had no one now, but if the boy was strong. He can survive while waiting for backup. So, the captain roared with the last bits of his strength.
He ran at it to already have planted something to it's leg. The Xeno pierced him in the neck. The captain eyes became white. As the light vanished slowly from his eyes. With the last bit of strength and conscious he clicked a button with a small grin on his face.
"Die you ugly bastard!"
*BOOOOM*
The explosion was big and it sent Vincent away from he shockwave. Vincent vision was blurry but he knew what the captain attempted to do. He mustered every ounce of strength and mental will to get close to the door now. He closed it slowly, until he saw nothing from the other side.
He looked around as he was loosing consciousness. Blood seeped from his abdomen and mouth. His severed arm was still leaking droplets of blood.
Vincent looked dead, he was loosing blood, color and the light from his eyes.
'I did the right thing...mom, dad?'
He questioned that this is his fate. Maybe he had the feeling that this planet was doomed. They weren't so advanced like some planets as what he has been hearing from the gossip and rumors that Kayle tells him.
Now, he wondered of a certain squad a certain band of warriors called the "deathwatch". Those were sent to planets that where infested with Xenos. He wondered maybe they will come for the rescue.
He could only hope, Vincent life flashed through his eyes. He clutched his injury as he was in life threatening status.
'At least....I won't be like those servitor.'
Seeing it himself it was torture. he would never end up like that. Why be part of the emperor when he would be made to continue like that by force. he rather end his life then and there.
Vincent walked to see a huge statue of the emperor.
He sat down and leaned on the statue.
*THUD* THUD*
he heard the Xenos thumping on the door. Trying to breach in. The door was heavily sturdy but he didn't know how long will that last.
'Your son tried mom, dad.....I'm sorry....enjoy your life to the fullest.'
It was his wish for his parents. Darkness was slowly claiming him.
"ah....what a way to die.....'
His mind was getting cloudy, a small smile appeared. No longer fearing nothing knowing his last minutes were soon to become nothing.
*Swoosh*
"Father!"
"Darling."
He saw someone call out to him. He didn't hear it, he just saw two figures appear. He fell to the darkness.
