After another five minutes of travel, the carriage finally came to a stop.
They had arrived at the Gengxin City Soul Master Academy.
As Tyson halted the carriage, Xiao Ling and Lu Tianming stepped down one after the other. The moment their feet touched the ground, both of them fell silent.
"So," Tyson asked with a faint smile, "what do you think of this Soul Master Academy?"
Neither of them replied.
Their gazes were fixed firmly ahead.
Before them stood the academy's main gate—tall and imposing, exuding an air of solemn authority. At the very top, the words "Gengxin City Soul Master Academy" were engraved in golden letters, gleaming under the light.
It was, without a doubt, a grand entrance.
Yet, compared to some of the truly renowned Soul Master Academies across the continent, this one could not be called the most magnificent. There were academies far more lavish and imposing than this.
Seeing both of them remain silent, Tyson asked with mild curiosity,
"Why are you two so quiet?"
"Nothing," Lu Tianming replied calmly.
Xiao Ling nodded in agreement.
"Alright," Tyson said, shaking his head slightly. "Come with me. We still need to complete a few procedures before you can be admitted."
"Okay, Uncle Tyson," Lu Tianming said.
The three of them walked toward the academy's main gate.
Before they could get close, one of the two armored guards stepped forward, raising his hand to block their path.
"Stop right there!" he shouted sharply. "This is the property of the Soul Master Academy. Unauthorized individuals are not allowed to enter!"
Xiao Ling and Lu Tianming were momentarily startled by the guard's stern attitude, but Tyson had clearly anticipated this.
He stepped forward calmly and said,
"We're here to enrol these two into the academy. My name is Tyson. I have a friend who is a teacher here—please inform him of my arrival."
The guards exchanged a glance and fell silent for a brief moment.
"And the name of this friend?" one of them asked.
At that, the corner of Tyson's mouth lifted slightly into a knowing smirk.
"Luo Guixing."
"What?!"
The moment Tyson spoke that name, the atmosphere changed instantly.
Both guards stiffened, their expressions turning nervous. Without hesitation, one of them stepped forward, cupped his fists respectfully, and bowed slightly.
"Please forgive our earlier rudeness, sir," he said hurriedly. "We cannot leave our posts to deliver your message, as we must continue our duties. Please… feel free to enter and look for him yourself."
The sudden change in attitude left both Lu Tianming and Xiao Ling stunned.
They exchanged a glance, the same question rising in their minds—
Just who exactly is this Luo Guixing?
Tyson, however, seemed completely unfazed, as if he had already expected such a reaction. Without wasting any time, he waved his hand casually and led the two children forward.
"Alright," he said calmly. "Since you can't pass along the message, I'll go find him myself."
He glanced back at them with a reassuring smile.
"Xiao Lu, Xiao Ling—let's go."
After that, they stepped inside the academy.
Several buildings stood neatly arranged within the grounds, their walls worn but sturdy. Students moved back and forth along the stone paths—some chatting, some hurrying to class, others quietly cultivating in secluded corners. Though it was far from a grand academy, for those just beginning their journey as Soul Masters, it was more than sufficient.
They didn't linger to admire the surroundings. Tyson led them straight toward the teaching building.
Once inside, he slowed his steps, his eyes scanning the corridor as if searching for someone. Moments later, he stopped a man who looked like one of the academy's instructors.
"Sir, please wait," Tyson said.
The man paused and turned around. "Yes? What is it?"
"I've come to meet a friend of mine," Tyson replied with a faint smile. "He's also a teacher here."
"Oh?" The man's expression softened immediately. "May I know his name?"
"Luo Guixing."
The change was instant.
"I see—you're here to meet Teacher Luo," the instructor said respectfully. "Please, come with me. He should be in the Vice Dean's office."
Without another word, he personally led them down the corridor, toward the heart of the academy.
After arriving outside the Vice Dean's office, the man leading them forward gently rapped his knuckles against the wooden door.
Almost instantly, a steady voice sounded from within.
"Come in."
Receiving permission, the man pushed the door open and ushered them inside.
Behind a broad working desk sat a middle-aged man, buried in documents. Hearing footsteps, he lifted his head—only to freeze for a brief moment when his gaze fell upon Tyson. Then, as if struck by lightning, he shot up from his chair and crossed the room in a few swift strides.
"Hahaha! You, old bastard!" he boomed, grabbing Tyson by the shoulder. "So, you finally decided to show your face, huh?"
"Uh… ha-ha." Tyson scratched his head, laughing awkwardly. "You already know the reason. Why bother asking?"
The two burst into hearty laughter, their familiarity unmistakable.
But beside them, Lu Tianming and Xiao Ling stood rooted to the spot, eyes wide with disbelief. They stared at the scene in silence, unable to process what they were witnessing. Never in their wildest imagination had they expected Tyson's old friend to be none other than the Vice Dean of the Soul Master Academy himself.
As their laughter gradually faded, the man returned to his desk and resumed his work, while Lu Tianming and Xiao Ling stood quietly to the side, not daring to interrupt.
Once the brief reunion was over, Tyson's friend finally shifted his gaze toward the two children.
"Hmm?" His brows knit slightly. "And who might these two be? Don't tell me they're your—"
"They're not." Tyson cut him off before he could finish. "They're the ones I mentioned in the letter."
"The letter?" Luo Guixing blinked, momentarily stunned. "What letter?"
"You… a week ago, I sent you one. I gave it to my father-in-law—he was supposed to pass it on to you." Tyson paused, then suddenly sighed in realization. "Ah… so that's how it is. He never gave it to you, did he?"
Only then did the pieces fall into place. Tyson hadn't sent the letter directly. Instead, it had gone through his father-in-law—whose eldest son just so happened to be the Dean of the Soul Master Academy. Clearly, someone along the way hadn't taken the contents seriously.
"Seems like they didn't believe a word I wrote," Tyson muttered with a helpless sigh.
"Well, never mind that." He straightened up and gestured toward the two children. "Let me formally introduce them. From today onward, they're the pride of our village."
He pointed gently toward the girl.
"This is Xiao Ling. She awakened the Iron Spirit Vine, with an innate soul power of level three."
"Oh?" Luo Guixing's eyes brightened in surprise. "Same level as mine back then." Then he turned his gaze toward Lu Tianming. "And the boy?"
"Haha." Tyson chuckled, a teasing glint flashing in his eyes. "Are you sure you want to hear about him?"
"Don't play games with me," Luo Guixing snapped. "Spit it out."
"Alright, alright." Tyson waved his hand and turned toward Lu Tianming. "Why don't you introduce yourself? Go on, Xiao Lu."
Hearing his name, Lu Tianming stepped forward. He cupped his hands respectfully and spoke clearly, without a hint of nervousness.
"Greetings, Teacher. My name is Lu Tianming. I am six years old. My martial soul is the Lava Hound, and my innate soul power is level six… possibly close to level seven."
The room fell silent.
Luo Guixing froze mid-breath. Slowly, he turned his head toward Tyson—only to see the man desperately trying to suppress his laughter.
"…You really are cursed with luck, aren't you?" Luo Guixing finally muttered. "First you marry Qing Wei. Then you become village chief. And now this?" He snorted. "Lucky bastard."
Tyson only grinned wider, completely unapologetic.
"Alright," Luo Guixing said at last, releasing a long breath. "You didn't bring them all this way just to let me meet them, did you?"
"Oh, of course not." Tyson replied promptly. "I thought it would be best for them to study at a familiar place—somewhere close to the village. That's why I brought them here for admission."
"Good."
Without wasting another word, Luo Guixing reached into the drawer of his desk and pulled out a thick register. The scratching of his pen echoed softly through the room as he wrote down the names and information of the two children.
After a moment, he closed the book and looked up at Tyson.
"You can head back now. Their enrollment is complete. Someone will fetch them shortly and arrange their academy uniforms and bedding."
Tyson opened his mouth, wanting to add that the two children were already capable of attending classes like normal students. But after a brief hesitation—remembering something—he swallowed his words and chose to remain silent.
And just like that, the admission of Lu Tianming and Xiao Ling was settled.
All that remained was Tyson's final instructions to the two children… before he took his leave.
