Everyone talks about how before the Valyrians became dragonlords they were sheepherders due to the Gods but what they don't talk about is how Valyria truly came to be. It is true that after successfully taming the dragons the Valyrians went on to form the Valyrian Freehold, a powerful empire ruled by magic, slaves, and dragons. However it was five major houses that were truly the backbone of Old Valyria.
After taming the dragons most lords started to become arrogant and in a few decades they would become even more arrogant. It was due to this that most started to forget who gave them power and thought themselves above the gods. They took and did not care of the consequences that come with it.
Yet it was these five major house that kept Valyria from falling apart at the seams. These houses focused on keeping the fighting at a minimum and made it a vow to keep praying to the gods but even that was hard.
The temptation of power became too great and the five houses started to fade from the peace until there was only one house left but even they struggled. House Valeris managed to keep a fragile peace on the fighting until they themselves experienced infighting inside their own house. While they didn't lose much their sanity started to lower when the doom got closer. The head of the house at the time, Lord Embarion who was a dragon dreamer grew paranoid.
The dreams sent from the gods started to get more and more vivid to the point it made him go mad. However before the madness took over him, he built a stronghold on one of the islands that were far from Valyria but not close to Essos. It took five years with the help of slaves and magic for the stronghold to be finalized.
When it was Embarion sent a ship full of books, relics, weapons, armors, and two dozen eggs. Lastly he sent his wife, son and his wife and child to the island and forbade them from coming home. He however stayed alongside his brother in Valyria to not raise suspicion.
While some speculated that Lord Embarion just wanted to get rid of his family to start anew the doom grew even closer. The Doom of Valyrian happened on a peaceful day when the sky darkened and earthquakes shook the buildings. Others passed this off as a normal occurrence while some noticed that the dragons grew restless.
Then suddenly a catastrophic volcanic eruption and earthquake shattered that illusion of peace. It was then the Doom of Valyria began. It destroyed the Valyrian Freehold, shattered the peninsula, killed most of its people and dragons, and created the Smoking Sea.
As history tells Daenys the Dreamer from House Targaryen foretold the Doom of Old Valyria and was able to get her family out of Valyria along with a few other houses such as the Celtigars and Velaryons.
Now the last surviving dragonlords are about to face one of their biggest obstacles that could change the fate of their house forever. But this is not where our story ends. Instead it is just beginning with a young woman who just got hit with a truck coming from grocery shopping.
