The voicemail was from Dante Moretti.
Alessandro listened to it three times. Each time feeling dread settle deeper in his stomach. Each time hoping he'd misheard. That it wasn't what it sounded like.
"Alessandro, it's Dante. I know you don't want to hear from me. I know I'm probably the last person you expected to call. But I need to talk to you. It's important. It's about your father. About Eduardo. About things that didn't die with him. I'm being released early for good behavior. I know things I should have told you years ago. Things you need to know before they come to light another way. Call me back. Please. This affects you. And Sienna. And your family."
Alessandro played the voicemail for Sienna that evening after Elena was asleep.
"What do you think he wants?" Sienna asked. They were sitting on the couch in their living room. The same room where they'd played with Elena earlier. Now transformed into a space for processing something neither of them wanted to face.
