Chapter 87 - To Each Their Own

"Oh, you mean to know what 'The End Of The World' looks like? Well, the definition is there in and of itself-

A literal hellscape where all sorts of demons and boogie-monsters wander the plains, eating anything and everything in their sights. Heck, I even saw one eating a baby in one fell swoop, its bones going crunch, crunch, crunch as it went down the Demon's gullet-"

"Vylara, could you please stop that; the poor guys behind Vanessa-"

"You can call me Vanny, handsome~"

"Oh, thank you- so yes, the guys behind Vanny are literally puking their brains out. Could you please stop with the over-gorification...?"

Though Natsuki knew that whatever Vylara was spewing from her mouth was utter bullshit, he knew he should not interrupt her and let her continue with the bullshit. Though it kind of irked him to have his rightly-earned deeds be smothered back into the generic 'it's-a-hellish-place-filled-with-demons-and-whatnot', he knew better than to squeal what they had actually seen, lest he drag these poor souls into an existential crisis.

He knew better than others what untold knowledge can bring

"Yeah, so, from our end, everything is over. We should take stock of what we have left, and get all the able-bodied men to carry the wounded back into the city. For those who, y'know, are dead, we should take their remaining keepsakes and return them to their respective families, considering the fact that everyone here seems to disappear after their untimely (or timely, if they're lucky) demise. And by the looks of things, even though a majority of the Shadow Demons have been vanquished, it seems that they are gathering anew for another assault, so we should be quick about it..."

Hearing that those dastardly demons have begun moving, the rest of the group quickly began counting their spoils (as you may have probably forgotten, this world currently functions as an RPG, something which does not seem to make sense to the group nor to us), and collecting the last mementoes of their fallen colleagues...

"Why, Fosle, WHY!!!!!! I told you to hide behind me, not charge to the front like a stubborn Lonkey!"

"Damn it brother, looks like I'll be the one pouring that whiskey in your grave from now on..."

"Broski! Don't worry- from now on, I'll take of that busty wife and daughter of yours (maybe even do that forbidden dish if that day comes..."

Hearing the cries of the survivors, Natsuki, for a brief moment, felt that they were truly living people, with tears and emotions, crying at the passing of their compatriots. Just as he was about to go and comfort the bear-like man who was crying at the loss of his sleeping buddy (and no, this ain't ancient Greece), he stopped, fear in his eyes-

Dark, shadowy tendrils emerged from his back, splitting the air as it weaved across the sky, dragging what could only be described as glitching pixels into themselves. Turning its head, its 2, no, 3, no, 4, no, 5 eyes began twisting in circles as it gazed upon the terrified Natsuki. Opening its mouth, it began dislodging its lower jaw, in preparation for its next meal-

"My Lord, is there something on my cheek...?"

Taken aback at the unexpected gruff voice, Natsuki realised that the distortion had dissipated, returning the unholy abomination to its pre-mutated form:

A rough, tough, and burly-looking Berserker with jerky pieces stuck on its beard

"No, it's nothing. I'm just... tired, that's all..."

Ignoring the sceptical bear of a man behind him, Natsuki returned to Vylara, concerned at what he had just witnessed. I hope that whatever Scaramond had released back then, they better have found what we are looking for!

It is done, we have done it! We have cracked the code! We have finally entered where our master has ordained us! Now, let us-

Crack!

Fizzle...

With a last fizzle, Bugbot 777's green eyes faded away, the dark purple lightning returning to where it came from after defeating the intruder. Though it had finally perished like the rest of its brethren, it had, before losing its noble yet measly life, managed to send one last picture to its creator-

A tall, dark pyramid, oozing with lightning as the raw power in it escaped. Atop lay a black throne, upon which something, or someone, could be seen sitting upon it-

Gazing straight into its multi-faceted eyes
