Lugia is one of the legendary giant bird Pokémon from the Kanto region.
According to legend, its power is very strong. Because of this, it only spends its time quietly at the bottom of the deep sea. People say that if Lugia flaps its wings, a storm will last for forty days.
Lugia is a legendary Pokémon on the same level as Ho-Oh. Caitlin had high expectations for Lugia. Lugia is known as the "Sea God." According to the Pokédex, people say Lugia is the guardian of the seas.
But... this creature was just too small.
"Lord Lugia..."
Satsuki and Tamao found it very hard to keep a serious face. The two women felt completely numb as they looked at this little Lugia. It was not even one meter tall. They always wanted to see Lugia and Ho-Oh. They hoped the Pokémon could forgive the mistakes their ancestors made in the past.
But they did not expect a Lugia like this!
"Wu-Wu~"
The little Lugia stood up. It moved from side to side like a duck learning how to walk. It followed behind Damian. It tried to take a bite of the bread in Damian's hand. This behavior was very cute.
"This child is probably very young. I wonder where its mother is," Damian said.
He gave the bread to the little Lugia. The little Lugia took a big bite and chewed happily. As expected, even for legendary Pokémon, the babies are innocent and adorable.
"Damian, do you think I can catch it?"
Caitlin's eyes were sparkling as she looked at the little Lugia. She really liked this cute little fellow. She liked it even more now that she knew it was a baby Lugia! Also, she was the one who caught it on her fishing line! She wondered what that meant.
It meant that she and this little Lugia had a special bond! It was destiny! Also, Lugia is a Psychic type!
"Catching it would not be difficult. Its mind is not mature yet. But the main problem is its parent," Damian said as he rubbed his chin.
He was also interested in this little Lugia, but he was not extremely interested. He remembered that the mother Lugia cared for the baby Lugia very much. She cared so much that she would become very angry and violent if the baby went missing.
It was clear how important the baby Lugia was to its mother. It wasn't strange. For creatures like Lugia, which stand at the very top, it must be very difficult to have offspring.
"The mother Lugia..." Caitlin said quietly.
She felt it was a big shame. However, she expected this to happen. Caitlin took a Pokéblock out of her bag. It was a special type she made for her Psychic Pokémon, and they loved it.
"Do you want to eat this? You should like it."
Caitlin walked up to the little Lugia. She sat down and spoke in a very soft voice. She opened the box of Pokéblocks in front of the little Lugia.
"Wu~"
The little Lugia's nose moved. Its eyes lit up immediately. It started eating the Pokéblocks very fast, as if it had not eaten in three days.
"Eat slowly. There's plenty more. Don't choke," Caitlin said gently. She petted the little Lugia's neck. The smooth feathers felt very good.
"I wonder if the feathers of this little Lugia have any special effects."
Damian picked up a feather from the little Lugia that fell on the ground. He looked at the small feather. It was shining with a silver glow. He felt curious.
The Silver Wing of a Lugia is an item used to call Lugia in the games. It is also needed to make a GS Ball. The Masked Man wanted to catch Ho-Oh and Lugia for their feathers. He wanted to use them to make a tool to catch Celebi. Celebi can travel through time.
However, those were feathers from an adult Lugia. He did not know if this little Lugia's feathers had the same power.
This same question was also bothering Karen and Will. They were taking a nap before. After they woke up, they came over to see if Damian made any progress. Then, they saw the little Lugia playing happily and making noises.
Will was very shocked.
"Is this... going to be okay?"
Will was a bit hesitant. He did not know if the feathers of a baby Lugia were what the Masked Man needed. The baby was not even as tall as him. If the feather was useless, the Masked Man might get angry.
"Karen, what do you think?"
"How should I know?" Karen answered him sharply and rolled her eyes.
She felt that asking Damian for a feather would not be a problem. She could say she wanted it as a souvenir. But the question was, would this feather be what the Masked Man needed?
"Wait, why did the sky turn dark?"
Suddenly, Karen noticed something strange. The sky was clear and blue, but now there were thick dark clouds. The sunlight was gone.
The calm sea also began to have big waves, as if it were angry. A heavy pressure filled the air. It was difficult to breathe.
"What's going on?"
Satsuki pressed her hand against her chest. She looked around with shock. This feeling made them feel like a powerful creature was watching them!
Wu~~!!
A long cry came from far away. Damian and the others heard it.
"Wu Wu"
When the little Lugia heard this sound, it hopped up happily. It made cheerful cries toward the big waves of the sea.
"It looks like this little guy's parent has come looking for it," Damian said with a chuckle. He looked toward the distant sea.
He could see a giant black shadow moving fast under the water. It was coming toward them. Lugia is called the "Sea God," but it is not a Water type. It is a Psychic and Flying type Pokémon.
However, Lugia can control the weather. Legend says it can make a storm by flapping its wings. It can also calm down big waves. It is called the "Sea God" because Lugia is a very gentle and kind legendary Pokémon, just like Ho-Oh.
Lugia comes from the sea. It has the good qualities of the ocean: it is gentle and beautiful. When people have accidents at sea, Lugia helps them.
Over time, legends of Lugia appeared. The people saved by Lugia called it the "Sea God."
But even a gentle Lugia can become angry!
"Wu~!"
The cry was getting closer. The big black shadow reached the shore. A massive, silver-white bird Pokémon rose from the sea. A lot of water fell off its body.
It was a beautiful silver-white figure. It looked like the little Lugia, but it was much bigger. Also, there was intense pressure coming from its body!
It was a heavy feeling that made it hard to breathe. Its eyes were filled with anger.
"Wu~~!!"
Lugia cried out again. Its cold eyes looked at Damian and the others.
"Na, na, na~ This is no joke, it looks like this Lugia is treating us as enemies," Karen said. She sounded like she was joking, but her voice was very serious.
Karen felt the terrifying power of this Lugia. She thought her old idea of catching a Lugia was funny now. The Masked Man could catch Lugia and Ho-Oh only because he was the Masked Man.
"We didn't do anything to the little Lugia. What is there to be afraid of?"
Damian did not seem to care. However, he saw that the mother Lugia opened her mouth. White air was moving inside. This was the start of the move: Aeroblast!
"Young man, are you sure it's okay?" Karen felt very scared.
Every part of her body told her that if she was hit, she would be destroyed! Karen gripped a Poké Ball tightly, ready to throw it.
Damian was also surprised. He knew the mother Lugia loved the baby Lugia. But she was using her special move immediately without checking the situation. That was a bit too much.
"Kyogre."
Damian did not want to guess if the mother Lugia would stop. He released Kyogre.
The King of the Sea appeared in the air in front of Damian. Its majestic eyes looked at the mother Lugia.
"What is this?"
Karen, Satsuki, and the others were shocked by the massive Pokémon. The mother Lugia was also shocked when she saw Kyogre.
She saw clearly that Kyogre came out of a human's Poké Ball. A human actually caught Kyogre??
The mother Lugia was very surprised. In the memory of her species, Kyogre's temper was not very good. Kyogre was the origin of the sea, but it usually only made it rain. It did not care about anything else. The Lugia were the ones who did the work for the ocean.
The mother Lugia was suspicious, but the Aeroblast in her mouth went away. If he was Kyogre's Trainer, he probably would not hurt her child.
"It looks like you're willing to listen now. Lugia, we didn't kidnap your child. We were fishing, and it got caught on the hook by itself," Damian said.
He lied without turning red. He just said it. He was not really lying; he did not think he would fish up a baby Lugia. They did not kidnap it. The little Lugia's stomach was much bigger now because it was full of food.
The mother Lugia felt relieved. Her mood calmed down, the dark clouds left, and the sea returned to normal.
"Wu-~"
The little Lugia did not care about the tension. It spread its arms and ran toward its mother. The mother Lugia lowered her body and hugged the little Lugia. She petted the baby's head gently.
This warm scene was very moving.
Kyogre looked at the little Lugia and the mother Lugia. It seemed confused about something.
"Wu Wu"
After hugging, the little Lugia made happy cries to its mother. Its wings pointed toward Damian and the others. The mother Lugia understood what happened. She looked at Damian and the others with an apology.
"I'm sorry. I scared you just now. Thank you very much for taking care of my child."
A gentle female voice spoke in the heads of Damian and the others. This was the mother Lugia's telepathy.
"It's okay. I can understand," Damian responded with a smile.
"This child is only a bit over a hundred years old. Its personality is still very immature. I've always been worried about it being tricked," the mother Lugia said. She looked at the little Lugia with love.
"Only a bit over a hundred years old..."
Karen looked at the little Lugia with a strange expression. She wondered if the Lugia species has a long growth cycle. That was normal. For a species like Lugia, their lives are very long. No one knows how long they can actually live.
