Silas's POV
The video conference with Director Parker dragged on for what felt like an eternity. Two grueling hours of budget discussions and project timelines finally came to an end when he announced his sudden departure from the state. Originally scheduled for an in-person meeting tomorrow, Parker had called an audible at the last minute, insisting we handle everything remotely.
I sank deeper into my executive chair, massaging my temples as the screen went dark. The fluorescent lights overhead suddenly felt too bright against my tired eyes. At least that ordeal was behind me. I could finally catch my breath.
The intercom buzzed before I could even think about closing my laptop. Miss Porter's voice cut through the silence, professional and measured as always.
"Mr. VALERIUS'Empire, Miss Bella Rossi from Rossi Kitchen is here for your appointment."
