"Any sign of her yet?" I pressed the phone against my ear, my temples throbbing from the constant worry that had been eating at me for days. Silas's silence since that evening had been deafening, and I knew him well enough to understand that his quiet meant trouble brewing beneath the surface.
"We spotted a woman leaving that specific apartment building several times, but when we returned to investigate further, it appears she's relocated," the voice on the other end reported with professional detachment. The words hit me like ice water flooding my veins.
