Bella's POV
The front door barely shut behind us when something crashed in the kitchen with a resounding bang. My heart jumped as a maid rushed out, her eyes wide with alarm, gripping a trembling tray in her hands. "Toby, please be careful," she pleaded desperately, hurrying after my son who was tearing through the corridor like a tiny tornado. Two other maids followed in hot pursuit, their faces flushed from chasing him around the house.
He whipped around the corner at breakneck speed, nearly colliding with a tall staff member who was carrying an armload of freshly folded towels. The man stumbled backward, cursing under his breath while desperately trying to keep his cargo from scattering across the marble floor. I rushed after Toby, shouting his name, but he completely ignored me and launched himself at Silas's legs, wrapping his small arms around them with such enthusiasm that Silas had to brace himself against the wall to keep from toppling over.
