'Joydd was a normal 15-year-old boy who lived on Earth as a student. Today, he was going home while scrolling through TikTok. Unbeknownst to him, a truck was approaching.
The truck driver was drunk and sped up as if he were racing in the Olympics. "Hahahahahahahahaha!" the truck driver laughed maniacally.
Joydd noticed nothing, and the speeding truck slammed into him. His body flew into a ditch. Joydd died in less than a second without feeling any pain and was subsequently buried in the unknown ditch forever.
That was all in the past. Now, Joydd had been reincarnated into another world as someone named Saddd. How did Saddd know he was in another world?
That was because of the presence of magic, which was the norm here. Almost everyone in this world could use magic, and Saddd was no exception.
On the day he turned 10, Saddd awakened his magic. His magic was called Revive, which essentially granted him immortality.
Saddd tested it by drowning in the nearby river, and his body was miraculously brought back to life five seconds later. However, he kept dying from drowning until he learned how to swim to the riverbank.
Well, aside from saving him from death, Saddd didn't find any other use for this magic. That was why he thought that if he combined this magic with another type, he might become more powerful.
Saddd then asked the adults in the village and was disappointed by the answers he received. Each person could only know and use one type of magic throughout their life!
Even though Revive sounded cool, Saddd much preferred a more useful magic, such as Food Summon, which Henry had, or Blink, which Gorny had.
But Saddd pushed aside his feelings of ungratefulness and decided to be grateful for whatever magic God had given him.
Two years passed in the blink of an eye. Saddd turned 12. Nothing much happened, except that Saddd picked up the hobby of gathering herbs in the nearby forest.
Saddd collected many herbs and experimented with eating them. Some gave him a stomachache, while others even caused him to die. There was also one herb that somehow granted him night vision or made his fists bigger.
Basically, Saddd learned about a variety of herbs over the course of two years.
These herbs, which no one else made use of, became Saddd's prized collection that he kept at home.
On the way home from gathering herbs, Saddd found a dying kitten. He thought that this kitten was just like him: alone and abandoned in a strange world.
So, Saddd helped the kitten regain its strength using his herbal knowledge. After regaining its strength, the black kitten became his companion. Together, they would search for herbs and huddle closely at night.
Another blink of an eye later, three years had passed, and Saddd turned 15. By now, he knew every herb within a radius of 20 kilometers of the forest. He often treated the villagers' injuries using his knowledge and was known as a doctor.
He learned how to mix herbs to create both medicine and poison. While mixing a medicine, Blacky, the black kitten, accidentally knocked over one of the medicinal concoctions, spilling it onto the ground.
Blacky simply meowed at Saddd. "Oh! Is it time for food?" he spoke to Blacky, smiling.
Saddd gave Blacky some fish he had boiled, which he had bought with the money he earned from selling herbs.
While stroking Blacky's soft black fur, a shout sounded from outside his house. "Saddd! Come out!"
Saddd paused and looked in the direction of the shout before sighing lightly. He then opened his door to find a boy his age greeting him.
The boy smirked and said, "Saddd! What do you do all day? Come out and watch my Blink magic?"
Saddd smiled and replied, "No need, Gorny. I'm fine being here. You can play with other kids."
Gorny frowned but smirked again. "Tch. You should play with me! After all, soon I will enter the Knight Academy, and you won't have the opportunity to interact with me anymore!"
Saddd thought that before he got his magic, Gorny hadn't been this arrogant. Now, all he craved was attention, as all the adult praise must have gone to his head.
Saddd smiled and said, "No need, Gorny. And if you manage to enter the Knight Academy, I will send you a gift."
"Hmph! Who would want your stinky herbs?"
"If you don't want to play with me, I will go play with Riana!" Gorny said gloomily as he walked away.
Saddd didn't want to play with Gorny; it would simply be Gorny showing off his Blink magic. Where's the fun in that?
Saddd shook his head and entered his house to continue concocting medicine. Three days passed as Saddd polished his herb-concocting skills. But now, as he reached for a new herb, Gorny's urgent voice sounded out, and this time it might not be about playing.
