"You said something about a medium for genjutsu, what is that?" Yuta asked.
"There is a way to enhance genjutsu by using a medium, through which you cast it, and all such techniques could be classified as advanced." Shisui continued explanation, "For example, Uchiha are using the Sharingan as such medium, by establishing an eye contact, Sharingan user could initiate a genjutsu technique, directly affecting the target's chakra network."
"And this is eliminating the weakness of the regular genjutsu, right?"
"Yes, it's generally stronger, it doesn't require to come close to the target and it's less obvious." Shisui confirmed, "There is other mediums that were used for genjutsu, such mediums must target one of the senses, the Sharingan target's the eyesight for example."
"Another example of such a medium is painting." Shisui continued, "There are records of paintings being used as a medium for genjutsu, they target the visual senses as well, although in a different way. Well, you've got the idea, even if there's quite a number of different kind of mediums being used for genjutsu in the records, there is close to none of actual technique detailed descriptions in there, so you'll have to work on something that will suit you rather than copy some incomplete jutsu from the Uchiha clan's records."
"I see." Yuta said while being a little disappointed.
'It seems enhancing genjutsu with some medium is a way to go, sadly, it seems Shisui won't be able to guide me that much on the matter. I remember from the anime how there was a number of genjutsu users from the Sound village, one used a flute to play music to cast genjutsu, and another used the sound of bells.'

'Now that I think about it, sound based genjutsu seem quite strong...'
"Don't worry about that right now, you have to learn the basics first." Shisui said, "I'll teach you three genjutsu, Sly Mind, Hell Viewing, and Interrogation, Sly Mind genjutsu confuses the target and makes them walk in circles unknowingly, unable to leave the place, Hell Viewing genjutsu makes the target see their biggest fear and could incapacitate weaker shinobi, Interrogation genjutsu is a technique that allows you to slowly break target's will to resist, the purpose of the technique is rather obvious."
"Do you use those genjutsu yourself?" Yuta asked curiously.
"No, the Sharingan Genjutsu is better in all aspects." Shisui replied, "But this is only the basic genjutsu techniques, you should learn and master them before you move on to something more advanced."
"I see." Yuta replied and Shisui started to show him the hand seals for the techniques, as well as explaining the inner process and details needed to cast the techniques, how to mold chakra, and how to control it precisely to affect the target in a right way.
Soon it was completely dark.
"Now you have to practice these jutsu" Shisui said, "Try using them for the next week without a target, follow all the steps of the jutsu except the last one. After you get used to them, I'll help you train with a suitable target."
Shisui left, leaving Yuta mentally exhausted.
Although Yuta was positive, he remembered all the important details about the techniques, he had a hard time fully comprehending these new jutsu yet, let alone performing them, as it were the first jutsu he ever learned, and he was still unaccustomed to molding chakra with hand seals and controlling it in a precise ways required by the jutsu.
The next day after the academy and after having dinner he went back to his usual spot by the lake to train, but instead of doing his usual workout routine with Water-Walking exercise followed by a physical workout, he was practicing the new genjutsu.
Yuta started with a Sly Mind jutsu and remembering all the steps required and the sequence of the hand seals, he started his practice.
At first, he found that controlling and molding his chakra according to the jutsu requirements was not that simple, although he was able to perfectly remember the complex steps of chakra movements and molding during each hand seal, and although following these steeps was not too difficult, it was still not an easy task for him.
During first tries he failed a multiple times and got his build up chakra dispersed, but after a while he got the hang of it and managed to correctly follow all the steps of the jutsu except the last one, when he was supposed to release his chakra onto the target.
Still, even though he succeeded in performing all the steps correctly for a single jutsu by the end of the day, he was still quite slow and clumsy.
As it was already late at night, Yuta went home without doing his usual workout at all.
'Even without releasing chakra, I have depleted my chakra reserves...' Yuta thought on his way back, 'Most of the chakra was lost in a puff when I failed to correctly mold it a few times, but there is also some loss when I had to return back already molded chakra without releasing it, also this "chakra recycling" of unused molded chakra felt quite uncomfortable, I probably shouldn't do it too much in the future...'
'Well, although my progress is less than stellar, it's still going quite well, soon I will master my first jutsu, this is exciting! But what is actually surprising, is how I was able to memorize all the complex steps of these three jutsu so easily. In my previous life my memory wasn't that great. Maybe it's the effect of my new young body, or maybe it's because of chakra, or maybe my memories improved so much because of the of my soul being enhanced due to the connection with the River of Time? Who knows...'
For the rest of the week Yuta continued to train in using the three new genjutsu Shisui taught him.
And by the end of the week, although he was confident that he could perform all three jutsu, still his movements in forming hand seals were quite slow due to the necessity of the complex chakra manipulations during each hand seal, and he still needs at least five seconds of full concentration to perform each jutsu.
'The time had run out, Shisui will come today, and my performance right now is not that great... I can't show him my clumsy performance like that or my reputation will sink!' Yuta thought dejectedly, and then he did what he already expected he would have to do after his first day of training with new genjutsu – he went into his mindscape to initiate the time-travel to go a week back, to get himself more time to train.

Yuta calculated the spiritual energy he spent precisely to exit the time-travel at the point where he was on his way to the training ground after dinner. As he found himself on his way there, he continued walking. There were no signs to the outside world that something happened to Yuta, and he didn't even flinch as he exited the mindscape in the middle of a walk, as he got used to it by now.
As he arrived by the lake, he resumed his genjutsu training. Although he newer released his jutsu onto any target, as right now he was training to perform it faster and get more accustomed to the complex chakra manipulations needed to form any genjutsu or ninjutsu.
Yuta trained each day for the next week, although a lot of his time was wasted on the academy classes where he didn't learn anything new due to the classes being an exact repetition.
To compensate for a time loss during the classes, Yuta went to the academy's library and borrowed some books and scrolls on the next academy grade topics, like geo-politics, advanced chakra theory, team tactics and other stuff, so he could read them during classes, as he would still have to learn all that if he wants to pass the theory exam for the early graduation after his second year at the academy.

After practicing for another week, Yuta reduced the time needed to perform each of the three jutsu to four seconds, still, he was dissatisfied with such results and initiated the time-travel once again.

Yuta continued to train during the evenings while attending classes during mornings and afternoons while reading books and scrolls on more advanced subjects.

By the end of the week Yuta managed to further reduce the time he needs to perform each of the three genjutsu to 3.5 seconds. He felt that he started to get a hang of it, still, it wasn't good enough for him, he thought, so he went back in time once again.

'One second! I don't think I can reduce it much more than that at this point...' Yuta thought tiredly, 'In the past couple of weeks I almost didn't reduce the time at all, I think this is as far as I can push my mastery of performing these genjutsu right now, training without the suitable target any further is almost pointless...'
'That's it, this is the results of my training I could finally show to Shisui proudly.' Yuta thought as he was eating at the quite expensive Yakiniku Q restaurant, he ordered a set of beef meat with souses and was quite delighted to eat some quality food for once, celebrating his training progress, as well as his physical body turning six years old.
As Yuta finished his meal, he thought, 'Sadly, this is too expensive for me, I can't even pay for this meal in fact...'

As Yuta thought that, he initiated the time-travel one last time and went a week back just so he won't have to pay for his expensive meal and to do his usual physical exercises during this week that he was neglecting because they didn't matter inside the time-loop.
