Chapter 21 - Chapter 20: School Troubles

Jayjay POV

Keifer had just finished using the washroom, and we were walking back to the living room. The house was buzzing with the usual chaos downstairs, but my mind was on Hex.

"So… you really care about him a lot, huh?" Keifer asked casually.

I sighed. "I've been watching over Hex since I was fifteen. He was just seven back then, being chased by his abusive father, Nathan. He literally ran into me one day, and I saved him. After that, I made sure he was safe. At the time, he was living with his lola and Nathan. When his lola died, he stopped going to school—he blamed himself. He still does."

Keifer looked at me with that calm expression of his. "Did they catch the guy who hit her?"

"No… not yet."

Before he could ask anything else, Hex's voice rang out from downstairs. "Jay! Keifer! Come back!"

I rolled my eyes. "There he is."

Keifer smirked. "Think I can convince him to go back to school?"

I raised an eyebrow. "Good luck with that."

"I can," he said confidently.

I sighed. "He might get angry if you keep pushing. Hex hates being forced."

"Just bring up the topic," Keifer said, nodding. "Leave the rest to me."

Downstairs, Hex was buried in his laptop, fingers flying across the keyboard. The rest were scattered—some watching TV, some talking, some just sitting around. I spotted Luna and waved at her quietly.

"So… when did you guys get back?" I asked.

"Two days ago. Hex told us you were here," Luna said with a small smile.

Hex, without looking up, winked at me mischievously.

I gestured to the couch. "Hex, come sit next to me. I need you to translate something for Diego in Spanish."

He reluctantly came over… but of course, he couldn't resist making things interesting.

I started casually. "How was your flight? You look thinner. Why wasn't Luna feeding you properly?"

"And… how are your Tagalog lessons going?"

Hex groaned dramatically. "Too long! Why are you trying to mess with me?!"

He then turned to Diego and began translating—but intentionally mispronounced some words. Keifer leaned over, quietly correcting him: "Feeding… alimentando, not… whatever he said."

I blinked. "…Huh?"

Keifer explained softly. The room went silent. Even Diego paused, listening carefully. Then Diego spoke to Keifer in Spanish, and I could only stare, completely lost.

Hex leaned closer to Keifer and whispered something in Spanish:

Hex: "Ella no sabe lo que dice, pero es divertido burlarse de ella."

(Translation for readers: "She doesn't know what she's saying, but it's fun to tease her.")

Keifer laughed, shaking his head. I glared. "What did he just say?"

Luna chuckled. "He insulted you… but it's a joke. Don't take it seriously."

I narrowed my eyes at Keifer. He just nodded, smirking.
