Chapter 7 - Bab. 7

That morning, Roni took the phone Bobi had given him out of his bag and asked how to use it.

"Miya, please teach him until he understands, okay?" Bobi asked Miya to teach Roni how to use the phone.

"Alright, come here. This is how you do it," Miya said as she began explaining how the phone worked.

Roni didn't really focus on the explanation. His eyes were fixed on Miya's nimble fingers as they moved across the phone.

"Wait a second, I'll save your number first. There's already a SIM card in this phone, right? Here, hold it. I'll try calling," Miya said.

When Miya called the number on Roni's phone, it suddenly rang loudly. Roni was startled and threw the phone away. Luckily, it fell onto the sand on the beach.

"Why did you throw it? Oh my…" Miya said, smiling at Roni's reaction.

"I thought it was going to explode. What was that sound? Why did it suddenly happen?" Roni asked seriously.

"That was called a ringtone. I called your number, so your phone rang," Miya explained, unable to hide her smile. She almost burst out laughing, followed by Bobi who was laughing from a distance.

"So that's what it was… Oh my God, why didn't you tell me first? I thought it was going to explode! You scared me," Roni said as he picked the phone back up.

"H-Hello…" Roni said hesitantly.

"That's my voice, right? You speak through that phone, and your voice can be heard on my phone," Miya explained. Roni listened obediently like a student paying attention to his teacher.

"Alright, I understand now. What do I do next?" Roni asked. Miya continued explaining in detail.

"Okay, we'll head back this afternoon. You guys can shower or relax first. We still have plenty of time," Bobi said, interrupting Miya's explanation.

As the day grew hotter, they prepared to leave and packed up all the tents. After everything was ready, they headed back to the city.

Because the location was quite far from the city, near a village, it took them hours to get back. Finally, around ten at night, they arrived in the city.

"Roni, how about you stay at my place tonight? I'll take you home tomorrow morning, how about that?" Bobi said while focusing on driving.

"Alright," Roni replied briefly while still fiddling with the phone. Since the beginning of the trip, he hadn't stopped trying to understand how it worked, though he was still confused.

A short while later, they arrived at Bobi's house. Bobi parked the car in the yard.

"This is my house, Roni. Come on, get out, let's go in," Bobi said.

Roni got out of the car with Miya, who had been watching him busy with the phone.

"When are you taking me home?" Roni suddenly asked. He had been so focused on the phone that he hadn't listened to Bobi earlier.

Bobi turned and stared at Roni.

"So you weren't listening to anything I said earlier? Damn it, my throat went dry talking all the way here for nothing!" Bobi said irritably.

"Listen, Roni. Tonight you're staying at my place. I'll take you home tomorrow, okay?" Bobi repeated.

"But I feel bad toward your parents," Roni said.

"It's fine. They're out of town anyway, so just relax, okay?" Bobi replied. Roni couldn't refuse.

"Alright, let's go in," Bobi said. Roni followed him.

Bobi held his girlfriend's hand as they entered the house. She hadn't let go of his arm the entire time, clinging to him tightly.

"Bik, prepare a lot of food, please. We're very hungry," Bobi told the housemaid.

"Yes, Sir. Please wait," the maid replied obediently.

"Is this a house or a palace? It's huge and luxurious! My God, this is my first time entering such a big house," Roni muttered as he looked around, seeing all the expensive decorations.

"Miya, please keep Roni company for a bit. I need to inform Mom that we've arrived. She asked me to let her know," Bobi said.

"Alright, Brother," Miya replied. She approached Roni and chatted with him while waiting for the food.

Soon after, the maid announced that dinner was ready. Bobi invited Roni to eat together. After dinner, Miya invited Roni to sit and have a drink by the swimming pool behind the house. Meanwhile, Bobi returned to his room to work on his college assignments. This was his final year, and he would soon graduate to continue his master's degree abroad at his father's request. That was why Bobi was very focused on studying to get good grades.

"May I swim here?" Roni suddenly asked while looking at the clear water of the pool.

"Seriously, you want to swim at night? Alright then, go ahead. No one's stopping you," Miya replied with a smile.

"Aren't you joining me?" Roni asked.

"Later. You go first. I'll grab some drinking water. Wait here," Miya said before heading to the kitchen.

While Miya was in the kitchen, her phone rang. Coincidentally, Bobi heard it too.

"Where's Roni? Oh yeah, who's calling?" Bobi asked firmly.

"Just Jack, Brother. He always calls at this hour, but I don't answer," Miya replied casually.

"Give it to me. I'll talk to him. You go keep Roni company. I'm also going to take Seli home," Bobi said as he took Miya's phone. Miya obeyed and left the kitchen.

"Hello, what do you want? Why are you calling my sister?" Bobi asked sharply.

"Hey, bro… where's Miya? Can I talk to her for a moment?" Jack replied.

"She's busy. Don't call her again, do you hear me?" Bobi said angrily.

"What's your problem with me, bro? You always stop me from getting close to your sister. I really like her!" Jack said seriously.

"Take those words back! I don't like you approaching my sister. She doesn't like people like you," Bobi snapped.

"Is it you who doesn't like it, or her?" Jack asked, but before he could finish, Bobi hung up the call.

Jack slammed his hand on the table in anger.

"Damn it… He dared to hang up on me! You don't know who I am, Bob. If you weren't Miya's brother, I would've finished you already!" Jack growled.

Bobi placed Miya's phone on the table and left to take his girlfriend home.

Jack was someone Bobi had disliked from the start. On campus, Jack was known as arrogant and flashy with his wealth. From the moment Jack entered the university, Bobi had disliked him. Jack was in the same class year as Miya, so Bobi, as her senior, felt the need to protect his sister from Jack's influence.

Meanwhile, Miya returned to the swimming pool carrying a glass of water. Slowly, she walked while her eyes stayed fixed on Roni's body. His handsome face, wet hair brushed back, and the black fabric necklace around his neck made him even more attractive. His fair, smooth skin mesmerized Miya.

"Why is he so incredibly handsome? I swear, this is the first time I've ever seen a man this handsome," Miya murmured to herself.

Even though Roni was just a village boy with nothing but his good looks, Miya didn't care at all. She was completely captivated by him.

"Hey, what are you staring at? Come join me," Roni called, snapping Miya out of her thoughts. She nodded, removed her jacket, and jumped into the pool.

They swam together while chatting casually. But while floating, Miya unconsciously placed her hand on Roni's muscular stomach. The spontaneous movement made Roni stare sharply, thinking Miya was teasing him.

They locked eyes for a long moment. Miya's pretty face and innocent expression made Roni unable to hold back. He moved closer and pulled Miya's body nearer to his.

"Miya…" Roni whispered softly.

"Yes…" Miya replied in a whisper.

Without warning, Roni kissed Miya's lips. Miya was startled, not expecting it at all—but she ended up returning the kiss.
