"Hey aren't you going to the library today?" Emily asked the girl in glasses sitting on her bed reading a book.
"I will but not now." Alicia answered, Emily was the only person who didn't ignore her. Maybe it's because they were roommates.
Emily nodded opened the door to the room and left. Emily is a year behind Alicia, she is currently studying Law and Alicia is studying Medicine and surgery, they get along really well.
Alicia dressed up and went to the common room, it is usually empty this time of the day.
She sat on the couch and turned on the TV to watch her favorite "Stranger things" series. She hadn't had enough time to complete it.
As she watched she wished something strange would happen to her boring life and make it adventurous.
As it neared evening, Alicia decided to go to the library as a party was being hosted today and it would be empty, she loved being alone, not because she didn't like people or was scared of their mockery, she just wanted peace so she could concentrate.
She put on a black shirt and black pants, she didn't put on any makeup as she believed it would be a waste of time, she just dabbed her face a little with pomade and put on her glasses- she let down her curly hair and she looked gorgeous. Though she doesn't need people to acknowledge this fact.
She went down the stairs of the hostel, S university is a very old and ancient university, rumors went around that it was built during the time of mystical power and it was a battle field for demons. She did believe that shit.
The university is very large with lush green gardens and a good view of the sea, it was built on the outskirts of country S, between the border of country S and Country M. Students from both countries attended the school and it made both countries live in peace.
As she walked out of the hostel and into the school compound she came across Alex, he was another person she got along with very well. He was studying Mechanical Engineering.
"Hello, Alicia." He said in that calm and playful voice of his, he was very handsome and talk, he was the ladies crush of the campus.
"Hey, Alex." Alicia replied in her low and calm voice.
"Aren't you going to the party?" Alex asked.
"No, I have tests tomorrow and I need to go to the library to revise some topics."
"Since when did you start reading for tests." Alex asked with a smile.
Alicia said nothing and just smiled at him.
"Okay, I'll join you later I have to attend the party, I promised my friends I'll be there." He said and walked away.
Alicia waved at him and made her way to the library.
It is a very big and beautiful building, it was close to the sea at the edge of the school making it a very cool place to read. Inside where floor to ceiling windows giving you a perfect view of the school. Whoever built this place must have had very great taste and loved to read.
"Hi Alicia, I was expecting you." The librarian said to Alicia as she knew that Alicia would never attend the party planned by her mates.
"Yeah, I came to check out some books for my test." Alicia replied already walking to the medical section of the library.
"Enjoy your evening." The librarian said a little loudly behind her as she knew no one was there.
"I will." Alicia shouted back and went to find her favorite books.
As she walked she found out she had read most of the books and knew them by heart, Alex was right when he said she didn't have to read for a test, she was ahead of some of her lecturers, some of them even took her along to perform dangerous and complex surgeries, in secret of course, but she loved it anyways.
She decided to explore the Ancient Historical section, it was dusty and filled with lots of old books, most students preferred romantic history, but she was open to read anything. As she walked deeper into the Ancient Historical section, her eyes caught an old book with purple covers. She brought it out and opened it but it was blank, her eyes widened in surprise, she flipped through and it was still blank, now this was funny, who would take their time and design such a beautiful books cover and leave it blank. Why was it in the library in the first place.
She rubbed her her hands on the cover to clean it so she could see the title, there was a language written in it,but the language looked strange and gibberish.
She opened to the last page and what she saw was a map, it looked like it was the map of the library, this library. She studied it carefully and saw that she was to move deeper into this section of the library. Whoever drew this map was probably in a hurry or did it for fun as he/she used stick figures and childish drawings to represent places of the library.
She walked further and came to a window that surprisingly didn't show anything outside, it was black, but there was a space in the center of the window that could fit a whole book.
She looked at the book in her hand and the space on the window and took slow steps as she went to place the book in the space on the window.
As she placed the book she stepped back and waited for about five minutes, she nodded he head and smiled, what the hell did she think would happen, she went closer to take the book and suddenly the lights started to flicker and her her hands seemed stuck on the book, she tried to pull out her hands but her efforts seemed useless,her heart raced and her eyes widened then everywhere became bright, it was as if she was being pulled into a black hole it was terrible, she opened her mouth to scream but no sound came out, it became brighter and brighter until it suddenly went dark and both the book and Alicia were gone.
The librarian who had headphones on didn't notice anything, she just thought Alicia was reading quietly in the corner like she always did.
