Felix reached for Hiro's hand naturally, as though it were the most ordinary thing in the world.
"Come on," he said quietly. "You need to rest."
Hiro lowered his gaze to the hand wrapped around his wrist.
How many times had Felix held him like this?
Too many to count.
And every single time, Hiro had followed without question.
Today… He didn't move.
"Hiro?" Felix frowned, unable to understand what the beta was thinking.
The blond-haired man slowly lifted his blue eyes toward him.
"I don't think I should leave yet."
The words were calm.
There wasn't the slightest hint of anger in them.
Yet they stunned Felix far more than if Hiro had shouted at him. Somehow, hearing Hiro reject him so gently hurt much more than any argument ever could.
"What?" the alpha blinked.
"The doctor hasn't discharged me."
"I'll talk to them."
"No need." Hiro smiled faintly before gently shaking his head.
Felix's brows slowly drew together.
"What do you mean?"
