Chapter 68 - Chapter 68

She didn't stutter but smoothed it out as if I hadn't caught her flat-footed about the situation. I didn't even need to listen to her coms to know Piggot was grinding her teeth, halfway from blowing a gasket. She did a side step around Milotic's sleek form before standing across from me and leaning against one of the free tables. The flare of green at her hip as she cycled weapons was ignored as I continued to give her a light look.

Malita ignored the people around her as if I wouldn't notice her slight ready stance. "We would love for you to come in and do a power testing and sign up to be an affiliate, " she mentioned while half-stating her reason for being here. "You can even bring your creatures."

With a chuckle, I shook my head at her, "Nahh, i'll pass, I'm not a cape, plus, I don't feel like letting all the villains in the bay know what I can do."

Malita didn't like that little dig as her brows furrowed a bit. "How are you, not a cape, is that not tinker tech you're using? What about the mask the other day."

"Advanced movement technology," I replied with a smirk. "Plus, I heard the rumors about that Director of yours through the grapevine. I'd rather not have to deal with her."

"Grapevine?" Malita queried as she sent me a confused look.

I snorted, "As if you don't already know who I am. I could bet good money that you had my file before you the same morning that Hookwolf tried to break into my home and got a face full of claymore. The PRT is slow and stupid, but it's not that incompetent, at least I hope not."

She huffed, cocked a hip to the side, and placed a hand on it. "Fine, you wouldn't mind disclosing what you were doing out in the bay this afternoon then right?"

With the plate cleaned by Dragonair, I gave her a nudge as I noticed the waitress coming over with the rest of my massive order. "Nah, I don't mind telling you what I was doing, but seeing as it is none of the PRT's business, I don't think that I will."

From the corner of my eye, I could see him move before he started to speak into the mic built into his helm as Triumph decided to work his way over to our location. Guess his shard got tired of waiting already, but too bad for him. I just wasn't in the mood to be the PRT's bitch on this day or any day in general.

"The hospital is a hospital, don't be a dick and the security won't have any reason to come down on you hard. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that much out." I replied while taking my food and putting it away in subspace. That little show of tech had Malita shift to a combat-ready position but I already had my back to her and was walking away.

"Yeah, well it's the PRT's mandate to handle anything parahuman, and isn't it against NEPA5 for a cape to be running a hospital?" Triumph interjected as he pulled into speaking range.

I rolled my eyes, "For the deaf, dumb, and too stupid to understand, I'm not a cape, nor am I a parahuman, just a person not willing to put up with your shit. Fuck with the hospital if you want, it's under Military jurisdiction so unless you got more juice than Uncle Sam on a campaign to discover more oil. I would recommend keeping those grubby mits to yourself."

Marking that as the end of the conversation, I jumped the boardwalk railing before the hand behind me could grab hold of my shirt.
