Rain lashed against the windows of Kai's cramped apartment in Brooklyn. He huddled deeper into his worn gaming chair, the glow of his monitor reflecting in his dark eyes. Kai was, by all accounts, unremarkable. He was a black 20-year-old with a shock of unruly black hair, perpetually clad in oversized hoodies and ripped jeans. His life revolved around two things: studying game design and, perhaps more importantly, dueling. He was a formidable Yu-Gi-Oh! player, his custom-built deck a testament to countless hours spent strategizing and perfecting his skills. Little did he know, his dedication was about to be tested in ways he couldn't possibly imagine.
A sudden power surge flickered the lights, and Kai's computer screen went haywire, displaying a chaotic mix of code and distorted imagery. He cursed under his breath, bracing himself for a system crash. But instead, a blinding white light erupted from the monitor, engulfing him completely. Behind them were others: a shy-looking boy with glasses, a girl with bright pink hair and an energetic demeanor, and a stoic-looking individual with a severe expression.
