A strange compression rippled through the air, as if space itself had shrunk for a split second. The next moment, a terrifying impact struck Omnis from behind. The strike came with such absurd speed that even trained reflexes couldn't track it. Omnis's control shattered. He shot forward like a missile, tearing through the air and passing just inches from Poison Queen. The speed was so immense that the damaged side plates of his suit scraped against her armor, leaving a deep, glowing scar as if a heated blade had sliced through metal.
Poison Queen didn't have time to react. By the time she turned her head, the positions had reversed. She was now facing the creature, while Omnis slid across the ground, crashing into jagged rocks far away.
"You bastard!" she screamed, her eyes filling with literal venom, "What did you..?"
But before her sentence finished, the creature had already moved. Its claws blurred, and in the next second, Poison Queen was lifted into the air and slammed into the ground. The impact shattered stone plates, raising a dust cloud, and a muffled cry of pain escaped her lips.
Omnis steadied himself from a distance. His knees buckled slightly before he stood up. The torn sections of his Red Eye suit flickered in self-repair mode. The dark liquid lines on his neck, where the poison scratch had been, melted and vanished.
Then, Omnis laughed openly. Loud enough for Poison Queen to hear.
"You know," he said with cold amusement, "no poison works on me."
Poison Queen froze as she rose from the ground.
"This is part of my ability," Omnis continued. "I can secrete poison myself. What you put inside me…" he wiped his neck, "…was just a temporary nuisance."
Poison Queen's face turned red with rage. Her ego had been hit harder than her body. "I will kill you, you bastard!" she roared,"No one will save you now!"
She spun her sword fully and threw it directly at Omnis. The blade cut through the air like a toxic comet.
At the exact same moment, the creature lunged at Poison Queen again. This time, she vanished to the side, dodging effortlessly. The creature's momentum was wasted, and in that opening, Poison Queen struck back with a reverse slash, leaving a visible dent on its side shield. For the first time, it looked like real damage had been done.
Omnis watched the incoming sword and laughed. At the last second, he raised his hand and caught the spinning blade bare-handed. The poison aura hissed against his palm, but the Red Eye surface absorbed it instantly. Without hesitation, Omnis threw the sword back with full force. This time, the blade's trajectory was aimed at Poison Queen, but its path crossed the creature's line.
Poison Queen instantly ducked and shifted, dodging the blade. The sword slammed directly into the creature's shield. A deafening crack echoed. The fractures on the shield exploded outward, and a massive mark appeared in the center. Simultaneously, the sword couldn't withstand the pressure and shattered into pieces.
Poison Queen's eyes burned with more anger. She instantly summoned her virtual card. The card was visible only to her just as all Icolis cards are visible only to their owners. Symbols flickered. She extended her hand toward the creature and began to copy its powers.
Omnis didn't see the card directly, but he felt the shift in the battlefield's energy pattern. Interesting, he thought. He instinctively stepped back, creating distance. At the same time, he began to mimic Poison Queen's copying process. This was his natural mimic ability learning and adapting by observation and books. But this time, he activated something else. A new technique he had learned from that strange family book. He didn't remember the full words, but the pattern.
Omnis completed the sequence internally. The next second, mist began to rise on the battlefield. First light, then slowly deepening into a thick, dark fog. The fog was so dense that even the moonlight turned dull within it. Rocks began to disappear. The creature's outline blurred. Poison Queen's silhouette faded. A cold vibration spread through the air.
Poison Queen closed her card and moved instantly. The fog didn't slow her down; she seemed to have read the environment. Omnis felt a strange sensation for a second— this lady is legend of all time I ever heard.
In the next moment, Poison Queen was right in front of him. So fast that the mist cut around her. She grabbed Omnis's forearm, pivoted, and used her entire body momentum to throw him straight toward the creature.
Omnis spun in the air. Through the fog, only the creature's glowing blue veins were visible.
"Shit—" he muttered.
The creature saw the incoming body and threw a brutal intercept punch. Omnis flickered his wings at the last second, shifting his angle. The punch grazed his ribs, but the impact still sent him crashing into the side of the mountain wall. Stone shattered and Cracks appeared on the chest of his Red Eye suit.
Poison Queen laughed from within the fog. "You're both working for me now." Her voice came from everywhere.
The creature moved with a sharp roar. Its blue lines glowed brighter. The shield was repairing. Now, three powers were active on the battlefield: the creature's brute supremacy, Poison Queen's ruthless adaptation, and Omnis's mimicry plus dark mist.
Omnis emerged from the rubble, wiped the blood from his red eye face, and tried to see through the dark fog. He felt that Poison Queen was copying the creature's shield frequency while maintaining its own poison pathways.
"Greedy," Omnis whispered.
"Master…" the Red Eye voice echoed in his mind. "Your new mist technique is unstable."
"I know," Omnis replied,"And if we lose control? Then we all die."
Suddenly, the creature leaped from within the fog. The target was unclear this time. Omnis dodged to the side. Poison Queen flipped upward to avoid it. The creature's rapid punches tore the ground apart. Dark mist erupted like a blast.
Omnis spread his arms and began to compress the mist. He combined the micro-control he had copied from Poison Queen with the pattern-binding he learned from the book. The fog tendrils began to wrap around the creature's limbs.
Poison Queen understood instantly and sent poison spikes from the opposite side. For the first time, both of them were working on the same target simultaneously temporarily, at least.
The creature paused for a second. Its blue veins flashed. The shield seemed to overload.
"Now!" Omnis shouted.
Poison Queen charged at full speed… but at that very moment, she secretly adjusted her angle toward Omnis's throat line. Omnis felt her intention. He laughed with a creepy smile.
