Chapter 2 - Chapter Two

Vincent couldn't hide his joy and excitement. "Well, all that is left is my system…" Just as he was about to say the word 'system,' the pain struck again, this time much more worse than it was before, and he would have screamed except that he fell asleep. It was more like he passed out, since he wasn't even able to tell that he wanted to sleep, talk less of actually sleeping.

He sat up suddenly, making a noise. Vincent found himself back in the classroom with all eyes on him because of the disturbance. With a smile and a wave of his hand, he apologized and set his chair back into its correct position, all the while oblivious to the hard look from the teacher.

Fuck! Was that just a dream? I was ready to die if that was what it took! Now I'm back here, damn it!

For the rest of the day, Vincent couldn't shake off the bitter feeling of disappointment in his throat. He paid only half attention to whatever was going on around him, and obviously, nobody could tell how angry he was to be back in their midst.

TopHill High School was one of the most famous schools in the entire world. They were not famous for being reserved for the children of those in high positions, but instead for the exact opposite, as they once rejected the admission of a president's son. The school prided itself on its discipline and the nerve-wracking requirements to become one of its students, and no one was an exception to this standard. It was no secret that its students were the true elite, and the school was home to geniuses.

Upon entering the school, students were provided with a phone that served as their means of communication between themselves and their families. It also held the points that served as their currency within the school, and was a means for the school to track their location at all times. The phone was like every other one, except that it had no access to the internet.

The school was a world of its own. The students had no reason to ever leave the campus; everything they needed and would ever need was provided. From a private dorm, which Vincent was most glad to have, that included a small kitchen, to a cafeteria, clothes, accessories, and a store. However, the necessities apart from the room were not free. They had to buy whatever they wanted, and that was where the points came in handy. The school provided 100,000 points at the beginning of each month, and the students had complete freedom to do whatever they wanted with them.

Vincent fell onto his bed. It had been a stressful day. All they did was introductions and a tour of the school. He and his classmates also found out that their class was divided into three sections: Class 1-A, 1-B, and 1-C.

He decided not to think about what had happened, but instead about the strange dream he had during class. Now that he was about to sleep, he thought that if he prayed to the gods he prayed to during the day, he would be able to go back there. After doing all that, he lay down and slept, ensuring that the forest was the only thing on his mind. And with the subtle stinging pain in his mind, he smiled. Well if I only get to enjoy my life in my dream then so be it!

All this happened while he was oblivious to shadow lurking in front of his room.

The same thing happened again. It felt like he was waking up and not actually dreaming. Vincent found himself back in the forest.

"Yahoo!!!" he screamed, jumping. "Good. Now that it has been tested that my dream shall be my life, I better live it to the fullest. Thank you so much, all the gods out there. I promise not to fail you! Now to the next agenda on the list. SYSTEM!"

He screamed the last part and waited for a few moments, expecting to see a screen pop up in front of him, but to no avail."SYSTEM!" he said again, but nothing happened."Well, I'm not going to let that ruin my mood. At least I'm here; that's enough. Moreover, not everyone gets to have a system."
