Auriana wasn't making this any easier. She was crying and begging me to take her with me. The maids tried helping me, but she would yell and glass would start to break or things would start to wilt or decay. Good thing it wasn't humans… yet.
"Good gods, just bring her with us!" Kliene sighed.
Ryan huffs, "Yeah, bring a ten year old, untrained Pylae, who doesn't know her own powers, with." He paused and then continued, "We might be the ones dying instead of the enemies."
I gritted my teeth, spun and punched him in the face, "Can it! She's harmless!" Ryan flew across the courtyard and landed on his back.
Ryan sat up, blinked at me surprised and looked away.
"Auri is strong and I think she could be of some use anyways. She also could use some on the fly training." Kliene smiled.
"Your Highness!" I protested.
"Kliene." Kliene tries to correct me. I looked away. "Come let's go. I'll have the staff fetch her. No ifs or buts about it." He sent a message and looked over at Lucas who was talking to the pegasi he summoned in. We walked over and Lucas turned to us and he smiled.
"Pretty, aren't they?" I found them back when the original god ruled over Solaria. They've bonded with me and will answer my call if I'm in need of them." Lucas pets one.
Auriana came running over and she stopped and stared at the pegasi. "Woah." She inches closer and the group of pegasi rear up and back up. She withdraws her hand and sniffles, "Sorry! I forget that some living beings don't like me." Auriana looked at me, "Momma, I don't think I can go with you!"
Lucas turned toward the horses, "Easy! Easy!" Lucas spoke to them, "Alivia it's okay!" He turned and looked at us and smiled gently, "Hold on, I'll convince one to carry you Auriana, just give me some time." He turned back and spoke to them in an unknown language and they began to calm down. One stomps their hoof and walks forward. "Ah, Duke said he'll take you, Auriana."
Auriana's face lit up and she squeals.
"Though, Kliene has to sit with her." Lucas sighed.
Kliene nodded quickly, "I'll do it!"
"Great! Then let's get going." Lucas hopped up onto Alivia and the other Pegasi walked over to us.
Kliene mounts Duke and I pick up Auriana and hand her to Kliene who positions her in front of him for safety. Duke turned his head to look at Auriana and Kliene before he moved over to Lucas. Lucas nudged his Pegasus forward and the others began to follow. Lucas' pegasus started to run and extended its wings out. The others followed suit. Alivia raised her wings up, jumped, and pushed down on her wings; she began to fly up. The other pegasus did the same and soon we were soaring through the air.
I felt the pegasus underneath me, move its legs as if it was running on land. Every so often they would stop and do it again. We eventually leveled out and Lucas turned and looked at us.
"Two days worth of travel, then we'll arrive at our destination. You all can take a nap if you want." He says while shifting around.
"Won't we fall off?!" Ryan asks.
"They're used to people sleeping and will shift so you won't fall off; and if by chance you do, they'll catch you." Lucas smiles.
"Great." Ryan said sarcastically.
I glanced over at Auriana and Kliene, the two of them were already asleep. It didn't surprise me, the flying was like being rocked to sleep. We were high above the clouds and I reached out and felt the energy inside me being pulled towards everything around me. I command Unda, water, and the sky was full of it.
Lucas pulled his pegasus back and he drifted backwards towards me. He smiled, "Maetel talks highly about you." He said and pulled out the feather from his pocket, "For him to give you this, it means a lot. His feathers hold memories and visions of the future. You saw and remembered, didn't you."
He must be talking about what I saw that night in the Holy City.
"I won't push you for answers, but you must have a lot of questions for him." Lucas smiled again.
I casted my gaze down, "I do, but I've been meaning to ask. Why is the false god taking your form, Lucas?"
Lucas laughs uncomfortably, "Faith. In my form, Kinnarus gains a lot of power by mingling without any consequences and can gain pure energy from the citizens. If Kinnarus roamed the city in their true form, fear would be mixed in along with it. People want someone who is human, that can resonate with the people's feelings, but also a being who is also divine. So that's why Kinnarus uses my looks."
I nodded.
"In this day and age, most Pylae lead nations. We act as a bridge to the human population. A gate and a connector. Your little girl is unheard of, she awakened as a Pylae before reaching her late teens, to early adulthood. She's a wild card, like you." Lucas looks at me.
Like me… I echoed. I smiled a bit and shook my head, "no, I'm just a Halosis."
"But are you really, just that?" Lucas replies, "the original god is hitting that you're special."
"Everyone is special Lucas, in their own ways. I'm just a strong Halosis." I looked away.
Silence. He flew back to the front after some time and I sighed again. Lucas' words echoed through my head. Are you really just that? Am I just a Halosis? Yeah. I have no abnormalities like Kliene or Auriana. I possess Unda and used Fulminius once, but I can't do it again if I even wanted to try.
I reached out to the sky. I can feel it, like it is there, but I really can't command it.
The energy answers me like Unda does, but I can't wield it.
'Or can you?' A voice sounded in my head, 'that power is very much yours as it is anyone else's.'
I jumped a bit and the pegasus looked back at me in question. I smiled gently and petted its neck. It turned back and it shivered. These voices, and that wasn't the voice of Maetel, the original god. That voice was mine.
