Amara's POV
Though I suspected Dominic's appearance here wasn't random, confusion still gnawed at me.
If he'd been tailing me the entire time, I would've spotted him.
With my gun trained on him, Dominic showed zero fear. He actually grinned, pulled open the passenger door, and slid inside.
"Think you'd buy it if I claimed this was pure chance?" he asked.
Before he could finish, I swiveled the weapon toward his skull.
"What's your take?" I shot back.
Dominic's hand flew up, deflecting the barrel.
"Honest coincidence," he insisted. "I was already stationed in Qart-hadast when word reached me that you'd also left Merida Metro.
"Figured I'd swing by the Steel Trine's Cythera operation. Never imagined I'd actually bump into you."
Truth was, he genuinely hadn't been hunting me down.
He'd simply been passing through, curious about any mercenary activity in the Steel Trine.
My expression hardened to ice.
"Out," I commanded.
