Chapter 18 - °•○● No More Days Off

"Actually let's start there. You just mentioned that I'm a Champion and spoke about meditation. I'm sure I'm normally supposed to know these things. But on the day of the combat exam I nearly died and I'm sure I suffered head trauma. I have some problems with my memory." He rubbed his temples feigning a headache.

Teacher Remy wasn't surprised by what he said. On the contrary, he smiled slightly. It was as if he'd won a bet he made with someone.

"There were those who said you'd hide your problem but you surprised more than half of the school's academic staff. Then let's start like this.

After coming here from Winborg City, you took the written test like the other half-million students. Even though you got high scores, you weren't happy at all. And somehow, you looked for a way to enter the physical combat exams. We couldn't find who helped you for Hell Maze but you couldn't enter others."

Orion knew from what he saw in the papers that the owner of this body had taken an academic written exam and received high scores. But when he said he didn't remember a clue why he entered the combat exam—and the most dangerous one at that—Teacher Remy helplessly moved on to other topics.

"Treatment procedures for your memory loss will be carried out in a few different places tomorrow. The best Clerics and Priestesses in the Church Wing are waiting for you and we'll also test the Healer, Alchemist and Life Mage methods."

Teacher Remy leaned back in his chair. "Coming to the other issue, basic mana training is divided into two. Generally everywhere except the Midka Academy, first-year students discover which direction they are more inclined towards during basic mana training and then take classes accordingly.

But almost every student here represents humanity's top level, elites and talented people. That's why 99% of those accepted to the Academy know whether they'll be a mage or a warrior."

If there wasn't a mischievous smile on his face, Orion would have thought he had a chance. But this man in his late twenties was here because they thought he would be a warrior. They hadn't made someone wearing a wizard hat or a sexy Witch outfit his personal trainer, they'd sent a muscular guy in military fatigues.

Orion smiled slightly. "I'm glad to know my options are still open, Teacher Remy. But really, I don't remember anything about meditation or mana. There are numbers and some basic things but I don't even remember my family. You just said I came from Winborg City. If you asked me to show it on a map I couldn't find it..." He added a desperate edge to his voice, mentally awarding himself an Oscar.

Teacher Remy looked at him carefully for a few seconds, especially at his eyes. It was as if he wanted to see something. Then he took a small crystal stone out of one of his pockets and brought it close to Orion.

If there hadn't been a balcony table between them with the cup Orion drank tea from last night on it, the holy feeling radiating from the stone could have been very effective.

Although the crystal thing emitted an impressive sensation around it, nothing changed in Orion. It just gave him a complicated feeling, like lying down in a temple and chilling out.

When Teacher Remy didn't see any distress, he put the stone back in his pocket and the holy feeling in the environment vanished. "Did you feel anything strange?"

"I felt like I was lying down in a temple and chilling. It was peaceful. What was that?" He asked with wide eyes.

Teacher Remy smiled but didn't hide his happiness as he answered.

"It was a Holy Stone. It was blessed by one of the High Priests of the Southern Vera Continent. It's used to detect many things like body possessions, demon mana and mental manipulation. A few people from the school officially threatened me to check you. Hahaha.." He didn't look like cared for the threats at all.

Orion swallowed the underline meaning when he saw the relieved face of this dangerous soldier who was trying to be a teacher but smelled of blood. Even if he had something like an Immortality Cheat, if that holy stone had reacted he could have died.

"Now that the last doubts have disappeared, we'll start with your basic training and resolve your lack of knowledge. But I think it would be healthier to show you around the school rather than staying on this fancy place. What do you say?"

Orion nodded. "Sounds good."

"It's going to be a long day so let's start by having breakfast." Teacher Remy, looking at him with his green camouflage military clothes and height of almost 1.90 meters, stood up and greeted Kalista.

A short while later with Kalista following them, they went downstairs and stopped by a mini-cafeteria that was simpler than the dining hall.

Orion was seeing this place for the first time and immediately realized it was a place he would love in the future. There were no waiters or crowds. There was just a tiny buffet and a woman behind it handing out requested takeout packages.

Teacher Remy approached the buffet and asked for breakfast for three. And just a few minutes later, they took the three breakfast packages he ordered and headed outside.

"After school starts, there will be plenty of tables or bungalow areas around here. But things will only settle down in a week or two. Academy went into a gull renovation and maintenance in the last summer vacation. They're trying to renew almost everything you can imagine."

They walked a bit away from the dormitory area and approached a nice tree where many students were sitting. Even if the people around noticed who they were, they didn't show it at all.

During breakfast, Teacher Remy pointed to different spots and gave interesting information about the school. But the most interesting part for Orion was the part about magic and warrior paths

"The only thing you need to be careful about for now is to stay away from danger until we find the factor triggering the healing ability in your body.

We need to learn if this regeneration is something that will stop suddenly, a genetic awakening or an Innate Blood Skill like Trolls have. It's probably something that awakened suddenly when you were very close to death but you can leave the details to your professors."

Orion didn't tell anything could look suspicious. He would let them to make some assumptions. Telling everyone he had a system or he would lose his immortality in 29 days was the least favorable option.

Teacher Remy took a breath and continued. "As for school education, you'll have classes on weekdays. But since you're in Class S we won't bore you too much except for a few core lessons. Every day without skipping, you'll have training, mana education and physical gym hours. Yesterday was like a holiday because we were busy finding out who would take care of you but today we start immediately."

Since Teacher Remy was part of the Academy, he didn't ask Orion for his opinion or if he was willing on many matters. And even if he had asked, the answer was obvious.

After breakfast, the trio stood up and went for a walk. At that time, Orion was listening to how meditation was a very important thing for magic training and how he needed a dark room until he learned how to enter the meditation zone at by himself.

But Orion learned something very interesting. According to this teacher in military clothes, every living thing born in Midka possessed a personal essence under a different influence the moment they were born.

When those who entered the path of magic succeeded in becoming mages, or those who improved their bodies with mana succeeded in becoming warriors, these random essences turned into a personal talent or a passive skill after that.

While still a Level 1 mage or warrior, if your talent was more suitable for the other side, you immediately changed your training and switched classes.

In the beginning, a mage could turn into a warrior or vice versa. All of humanity attached importance to making such corrections before it was too late.

Even a single strong soldier could change everything in war.

Yes, war. Orion expected a life where he would dance with elves in a fantasy world and tame dragons thanks to his system. But the whole humanity was currently at war and the only goal of all mages and warriors was to serve-the-army!! It was at this moment he knew, he fucked up.

Teacher Remy's words also supported this belief.

"Some years incredible individuals with very special potential are given the S-1 title. Students who receive this title in the student ranking are called Champions. You will receive the hardest and most accelerated training in the Academy and will be raised to lead in war."

Orion didn't like the smile on the teacher's face as he spoke about these serious things with such joy.
